Sorry for another lame ass attempt :\

"Hey," Jin's groggy voice rasps through the electronic silence, just after the ringing stops.

"Sorry, were you sleeping?"

"No..." He fights to stiffle a yawn, but Kame hears it through the line anyway, "Well yeah, but it's fine, got nothing to do today anyway."

"Oh, that's good." On the other end, Kame twirls the cord in his fingers and waits for Jin to say something.

"Hmm, busy day, huh?"

"Yeah, sorry I couldn't take your call."

"No, no. You must be tired,"

"Hn, yeah. A bit. What have you been doing today? I mean, yesterday..."

"Not much. I finished a new song. H-how was your day?"

"'Twas 'kay. Had rehearsals the entire day. Went to dinner with the guys tonight. Just finished tucking the kids in.

"Huh?"

"Taguchi, Koki, Tacchan, Yuuichi."

"What? They're there?"

"Yeah, sleeping over for the night."

"...Why?"

"Old man said something about working on team solidarity and member-ai. Thought we'd work on that after dinner."

"Yeah? Are they still..." mad at me? Is what Jin wants to say but can't. Not out loud anyway.

Kame knows though; he always knows. So he asks before Jin can feel any worse, "Will you sing that song for me?"

"What?"

"That song you wrote. Will you sing it to me?"

"Now?"

"Yeah."

"Um...okay." Jin chuckles, a bit embarrassed at the sudden request, "But it won't be the best,"

If I said, "Do you love me?"
Would you say, "Ye-oh"?
If I said, "Do you need me?"
Would you say, "Ye-oh"?
...

Jin sings huskily and that unrehearsed voice of his, definitely not up to par as when he's on stage but Kame is willing it take it whichever way. He can't understand the English after the first two lines, but that's okay, he doesn't need to understand as long as he can hear Jin. He can listen to Jin forever. He smiles despite himself.

The last word comes around and Jin enters that awkward phase when he doesn't quite know what to do next.

"That was nice. You sound great." It was all Kame is willing to tell him.

"Really? Did you like it?"

"Un."

"Say ye-oh?"

Kame chuckles.

"Say it, please?"

His smile slowly vanishes and he becomes pensive. I miss you. I need you. I love you. No one says anything for more than minute.

But it's Jin who breaks the silence, not wanting to think about Kame's response, or lack thereof, "...I miss you."

A few soft sniggers sneak in after the cautiously said confession and it baffles Jin. Was Kame mocking him?

But Kame is equally perplexed. Even if it did seem like it came from his end, "Whu- huh?"

They listen in for some clue, both struck with shock by the inappropriateness of the deed at such a time. After confused hush, the one who illicited the scandalous snigger can't contain himself any longer and boisterous laughter rings in both of their ears.

Kame's sigh is all but subtle.

Jin registered the laugh as being all to familiar and he glared at nothing in particular before shouting, "FUCK TAGUCHI!! GET OFF THE LINE!"

akame, drabble
