Hello all! I'm still alive!
Sorry for being complete shit about updating. Too much to say I guess.
So basically, I'm in Kobe, Japan. I assist in teaching English to Junior High school students. Mostly I really like it! I do have a lot to learn about teaching, especially alongside another teacher, so mistakes and frustrations happen, but it's all okay, because the kids are awesome and make it all worth it. :D I'm quite sad because I won't be teaching my third years next term, but instead I'll start teaching the second years and it'll be nice to get to know that third of the school.
At the moment I'm at Shioya JHS. It's on a hill with a great view of the water in the distance. It's gorgeous! The kids are all really well-behaved too (not that some of them aren't noisy in class... though to be honest I usually enjoy those kids). No one's grabbed at me inappropriately or even asked me anything bad (which happens a lot in JET). I almost want to teach them swear words just because.
I'll probably be changing schools after next term though. Kobe JETs get moved around a lot (actually, Kobe teachers in general get moved around a lot). I really like Shioya, but at the same time it would be nice to start afresh at another school with a little bit more experience so I can make a better impression.
But enough about work!
Plenty of other fun things here. First of all, I have a boyfriend now! Yay! I met him when I was here the last time actually, though only a few times, but he became good friends with some of my friends here so I hung out with him more this time. So that's all nice. We're going to the Luminarie tomorrow (it's a big light thing to commemorate the Hanshin Awaji earthquake). I didn't see it the last time I was here, so I''m looking forward to it. :D
Other news... Not a whole lot really. Gone on a few trips: Shimane Prefecture (never heard of it? Not surprised! A friend who's also a JET lives up there... complete countryside) and Hiroshima (mmm momiji manju!). And, Michi (that's my boyfriend) and I are going to Seoul at Christmastime. Mmm Korean food.
Other than that things are pretty nice here. I like my apartment and the othet JETs and such.
I'll try to update more frequently, I promise! For now, though I have to get back to remembering the many things that I was probably supposed to do today. :)
