I got the rough draft of my personal statement done! Hooray! Mostly I just needed to do this ASAP for my recommendation letters; the application itself isn't due until the beginning of December, so I still have time to perfect it. It's nice to mostly have that off my shoulders though. I also requested another official transcript from Konan, so then after that I don't really have a lot of hard things to do. I really hope I get in. At the info meeting, one guy who had been on an interviewing committee thing said that it doesn't seem to hard to get into the interview stage. Hopefully though I can do okay at the interview stage if I get to that.
Just took a break to talk to my brother, and one thing came up that I hadn't thought about. Seeing as Nova just closed its doors (though it won't officially be closed unless it can't get someone to take over in the next 8 days), the competition for JET is probably going to be worse than ever. I really hope this doesn't have mean that I can't get in. After all, all those teachers have experience not just living in Japan, but also teaching English. Why couldn't they have waited until December to close?
