He blinked to get rid of the tears in his eyes...tears? He looked down at the figure he was holding in his arms.
“Nino...” he murmured the name, his fingers tracing the pale cheek. A smile found its way to his lips as he remembered the last time he touched Nino’s cheek. They were sitting on the big tree facing the ocean where he promised Nino he would never break his heart.
Just like that it all came crashing down on him. The cold body he was holding, it was not a dream. “Please...” he begged as quietly as he could, just for his and Nino’s ear to hear. “Come back to me...”
“It’s too late Sho...” Jun’s voice was like a claw that brought him back to the sad reality, to the world where he wasn’t there anymore...
“You have to let go.” Jun kneel beside him, his hand never leaving his shoulder.
“I cant, Jun.” Jun held his breath when he saw how broken his student had become. “I never got the chance to tell him that I love him”
“Sho...”
“He took him away from me...” Sho hugged the other closer to his chest, Nino’s soft hair caressing his face. “Gackt took him away from me.”
Jun watched him in silence as he repeated the sentence over and over again, each time with fire of anger burning brighter in his eyes.
“Jun”
Sho’s cold voice caught Jun’s attention, “Yes?” Jun looked at Masaki in question before he turned back to Sho again.
Gently, Sho laid Nino’s body on the ground. His hand caressing the other's face and he bent down to kiss his forehead. “Stay with him till I get back.”
Taken aback by his determination, Jun merely nodded and in a second watched Sho jump on Masaki and took to the sky, praying to the Gods to watch over him. Because one thing's for sure, he knew his student was not one to back down easily.

“GOD DAMN IT!!” Gackt’s scream filled the dark dungeon as he threw a ball of fire to the wall. “I was this close to winning when that DAMN SHO RUINED IT ALL!!” he screamed again throwing his tantrums.
“All those years of planning was all in vain. and ITS ALL YOUR FAULT!!” he turned to his two minions; Pain and Misery. The two goblin’s curled in a corner to hide themselves from the wrath of their master when a huge crash caught their attention and a second later, Sho appeared in front of them. The gate of underworld in his hand and he threw it away like it weighed nothing.
“Oh Sho...” in an instant Gackt’s features changed, he opened his arms to invite him in. “Welcome to my humble home, what brings you here? Shouldnt you be celebrating with your father?”
“CUT THE CRAP”Gackt shrieked when he saw Sho’s fist coming towards him.
“Wait, wait!” he screamed to stop him but there was nothing at that moment that could catch Sho’s attention. Except one thing. “You can bring back Nino.” Gackt spoke quickly as he shielded his face with his arms.
Sho’s fist came to a halt, “What did you say?”
Happy with the result, Gackt jumped towards the lake in the center of dungeon, “Come here, let me show you.”
Tentatively, Sho followed and froze at the sight of rivers Styx and Acheron.”What is this?” he looked at the people swirling around as the waves moved. His eyes scanning the faces and jumped when he saw Nino’s body floating towards the center. “Nino.” Excitedly he reached for the man he loved but the moment his hand touched the water, he saw how in an instant his hands grew old and hurriedly pull them out. Returning to normally as soon as his hands left the water.
“What is the meaning of this?” he turned to Gackt.
“This is the river that carries the souls of the dead to the underworld, once a soul reaches there, there is no coming back” he placed his hands on Sho’s shoulders. But if you can reach your man before he gets to the underworld, you can bring him back to the land of the living.”
“But...” Sho looked at him as he came to a halt, “In the river, time goes way faster and that’s why your hands got so old when you put them in the water. You might not be able to make it through, are you willing to take that chance or are you going to let the love of your life slip right before your eyes?”
Without a moment of hesitation but with a world of determination, Sho dived into the river.
Gackt laughed softly as he turned his back to the river.
“Master?” Pain asked carefully, “What if he comes back?”
“He wont,” Gackt answered without even sparing him a glance, “No one has ever came out of it alive. He’ll die before he reaches that brat.”

They say before you die you will see your whole life flashing right before your eyes, Sho found it funny since the only thing he saw was the memory of the first time he met Nino...
Swimming through the bodies, his eyes searches for one particular soul.
The first time he held him... the first time he felt his heart beat rising when Nino smiled at him...
He felt so weak and tired. By now all he wanted to do was to close his eyes and surrender to a place where he could be with Nino again.
The memory of the first and last time he kissed him...
“Nino...” he murmured the name as he opened his eyes and saw his old hand reaching for Nino's soul which was only a few inches away.
No, he thought. He couldnt let go, not now...not ever.

Gackt paced back and forth, now that Sho was out of his way he had to think of a way to save himself from Ogura’s wrath. The God of Thunder was not going to let it go that easily, and getting his son killed was not in his favor at all.
He grunted in frustration,”I have to think of something, anything is fi-“ he froze when he saw Sho’s shining body on the edge of the lake, Nino’s soul resting in his embrace.
“How is that even possible?” Misery asked in surprize.
Gackt looked at him in pure amazement, “Only if he’s a God.” The gears in his head started turning as he thought of a way to save himself, in a blink of an eye he got himself to Sho to talk his way out of the mess he made.
“Oh Sho I'm so happy for you...” he trailed after him, “You can finally be with your love and let me tell you, Nino really is one of a kind.” he said as he reached for his soul but Sho’s glare told him how bad of an idea it was.
“Dont touch him.”
“Okay, okay...” Gackt lifted his hands in defeat. “But hey, now that you two are reunited, what do you say you talk to your father about me, huh?” Once again he reached for Nino’s soul, “Come on little guy, you tell him what a good master I was.”
That sentence was enough to fire Sho’s rage, “I said, DONT TOUCH HIM.” his fist then collided with Gackt's face in a loud crash. Pain and misery watched in union as their master’s body went flying into the lake of the dead.
“What should we do now?” Misery looked at Pain in fear when they heard Gackt’s screams as the souls in the river dragged him to the underworld.
“Nothing” Pain said as he watched Sho’s retreating back, “We’re finally free.”

Jun held his breath when Sho placed Nino’s soul on his body while Masaki held his hand. They both stood behind Sho as he waited for results. However, seconds passed as nothing changed.
“It’s okay, Sho.” Masaki sat beside his friend, “You did everything you could...”
“It wasn’t enough.” Sho choked out as he hid his face behind his palms, “I never should’ve left him.”
“And let Gackt have his way? That’s not the man I know...”
The three of them jerked in surprise and Nino’s soft laugh filled the air, “Don’t look at me like you’ve seen a ghost.” he didnt even get a chance to finish his sentence before Sho dragged him to his strong arms.
Nino gently hugging him in return after a minute and parted himself from Sho as they stood up, “Thank you for saving me.” he said shyly, his eyes staring at the ground stubbornly. “Though you didn’t have to do it.”
“Hey” Sho’s touch on his cheek made him finally look at the man before him, “People do crazy things when they’re in love.”
Laughing in response, Nino looked at him lovingly, “Thats so cheesy...”
“I know” Sho smiled back, “I learnt from the best.” As he leaned down. Their lips only an inch apart when the sound of thunder caught their attention.
“SHO, MY SON,” Ogura shouted happily as he and the other gods landed on the ground beside him.
“Father, mother,” Sho said excitedly as he went to hug his parents after a long separation.
“I'm so proud of you, son.” his mother murmured as she kissed his forehead, “You saved us and you even sacrificed yourself to save this young man” Smiling in embarrassment, Nino nodded as he moved back from the cheering crowd. All these were gods... he had no place there.
“Your mother is right, you finally showed what a true hero means.”his father patted his back proudly as the others cheered for him, “Being a hero is not about the power of your body,” he placed his hand on his son’s chest, “Its the power of your heart...and now,” Ogura gestured at mount Fuji, “Its finally time for you to come back home and be with your people.”
Smiling happily, Sho found himself at loss for words. That was all he ever wished for, to find his place in the world and be accepted by his father. He looked at mount Fuji, it feels like a dream but it wasnt, it was reality. And he could have it all.
He knew he should feel happy, it was all he ever wished for after all but there was this deep sadness in his heart. Turning his head over his shoulder, he saw Nino smiling at him in agreement before he turned around to leave the field. and then it hit him.
“Thank you father,” he had made a decision, “All my life I’ve tried to find my place in this world.” Sho said as he weaved his way out of the crowd and reached for Nino’s hand. Gripping it before he gets the chance to lose him again.
“Now I know being with Nino is where I belong.”
“Sho...” Nino murmured as he felt tears at the corner of his eyes.
“Being with you and being immortal is like a dream, Father. But now it means nothing if I'm not with the man that I love” He smiled as he wrapped his arm around Nino’s waist. “If it’s okay with you I wish to stay here with my people... with him.”
“You won’t regret it?” Nino asked as a tear rolled down his cheek.
“Never.” was Sho’s reply before he pulled the other for a deep and loving kiss.
“And they lived happily ever after... the end.” Ohno said happily as he put another grape in his mouth.
“Wow...” the boy said with his eyes sparkling, “My dad really went to the world of the dead to save my papa?”
“How do you know it’s your parent’s story?” Ohno said in a accusing voice.
“My son is way too smart.” Nino said from the door frame he was leaning on.
“And so smug just like his father.” Ohno threw him a glare, “And please, you already told him the story.”
“We didnt,” Sho followed Nino to the kitchen, “We knew sooner or later you’d tell him.”
“Shouldnt you be asleep now, Akemi?” Nino rounded the table to pour himself a glass of water.
“You guys know him?” the small boy asked in surprise.
“We go way back.” Sho laughed at the memory of the first time Ohno drew him.
“Indeed...” Ohno laughed along, reminiscing the moments the five of them shared through the years.
“Come on young man, “ Nino kissed his son’s head, “It’s time for you to go to bed.” he said as he ushered his son to his room.
“Please papa, can I stay for one more story?” Akemi begged as Sho ruffled his hair on his way out. “You can ask him tomorrow when he comes for dinner.”
“Fine” the boy rolled his eyes as he went out with a loud goodnight, once again surprising Ohno with his resemblance with Nino.
“You guys never told him your story?” Ohno asked when it was only the three of them in the kitchen.
“Well he knows about Sho but our story is just between us.” Nino said calmly as he leaned against Sho’s chest.
“Plus who’s better to tell him than the great story teller, Ohno Satoshi.”
Ohno giggled at Sho’s praise, “Fine, since I'm done with my travels around the world, we can gather like before again and you two better tell me everything I’ve missed.”
“Good.” Nino smiled as he felt Sho’s arms wrapped around him, “Five of us can be together again, I'll call Jun and Masaki for dinner tomorrow.”
Listening to his parents talking to their friend, Akemi smiled as he made his way upstairs to his room. He couldn’t wait for tomorrow.

“Did he leave?” Nino asked as Sho slipped into bed.
“Yeah,”as if on autopilot, Sho pulled Nino into his embrace and kissed his head, “God you always smell so good, Kazu.”
Nino laughed, closing his eyes as he hid his face in Sho’s chest. “Ohno’s story brought back so many memories,” he lifted his head.
“I still can’t believe you entered the land of the dead for me.”
Instead of an answer, Sho stared at him, his thumb tracing his cheek as he looked into Nino's brown eyes, "You’re worth it.” he kissed Nino softly, “and you know I would do it a thousand times over if I had to.”
Smiling, Nino kissed him as he whispered words of love to the other. All the while thinking of Ohno’s last words...and they all lived happily ever after.
