ROUND ROCK - A 24-year-old Marine reservist from Texas was killed during a combat operation in Iraq, the military announced Saturday.

Cpl. Steven P. Gill of Round Rock died Thursday near Zaidon, Iraq, after an improvised explosive went off.

Gill was assigned to the Marine Reserve's 4th Reconnaissance Battalion, 4th Marine Division in San Antonio., aka scuba steve, steve-o, and a dce (youth minister) in training at my church, my ski buddy at breckenridge and initiator of the "gallon challenge" at beach bash freshman year, whose mom just happened to be my sunday school and confirmation teacher from 4th to 7th grade so i am close to her too, was killed yesterday morning in iraq. he quit school at concordia in his senior year to go, even though he didnt have to, and then poof hes gone. like jojo said when she called me yesterday, this isnt supposed to happen. not to steve, not to anyone. Do me a favor, pray for bill and rose gill, and for everyone who knew steven, as well as families of other military people. thank you.
