Although the audience gets the impression that Millie and Jimmy had been hanging out for a long time before they kissed, they had really only actively known each other for a week "hey, i've only been there a week...". After the kiss, Millie is mad for only one evening, until he comes to visit her at work "millie, we have to talk about LAST night". that night they have dinner and he proposes. they have only known each other for a week!!! and only kissed once, and then he proposes!! although, they could have been doing whatever while they were in the laundry cart...
