Last night, at about 12:45 AM, we got a call from Harvey Dent's cellphone. It was an emergency call to Ms. Rachel Dawes' house. We took action immediately and made our way over, doing the best we could to avoid any obstructions along the way. Unfortunately, by the time we arrived at 402nd street, the culprit was no where to be found. We did, however, recover Mr. Dent's body. We think he may have engaged in combat with the attacker and he took quite a beating from it. Bless that man's soul. He's been admitted into the emergency room at St Mary's Sacred Heart in the south side of city. I'll have to make sure to visit him to see if he's out of critical condition. He was in a coma from what I last heard. Let's hope he can stay strong.

In the case of Ms. Dawes, we didn't find anything aside from a sample of DNA that was recovered from a puddle of blood. Since the incident took place at her apartment, we can't exactly make any immediate traces to things she may or may not have touched. Her fingerprints were found on a knife and plenty of other supposed defense weapons in the struggle.

A witness report states that a man was seen leaving the area with a woman hanging over his shoulder. We have very good reason to believe that this man is none other than "The Joker," an infamous face in the world of crime in Gotham. We'll have to keep out eyes and ears peeled. I'm going to drop by the CSI unit to see if they've got anymore news for me about the kidnapping and potential evidence. I pray to God that we don't end up finding that young woman's body somewhere. We can't afford to lose anymore good people in the world.
