on_thecouch, Session 03

Aug 11, 2008 17:31

Two young boys run and stumble among the sand dunes, laughing as they come to a stop under one of the few trees, twined fingers shining under the bright sun.

“We'll go on an adventure,” he whispers “and we’ll become heroes!” Eyes shine with the simple childhood belief that the world is their playground, , made especially for them to explore and enjoy.

-------------

Two teenagers tumble around in a small bedroom designed for one, holding each other as they collapse atop the bed, smiles visible in the moonlight.

“We’ll survive this, you’ll see.” he says “and we’ll come home heroes.” They were forced to grow up much too fast, each still a boy at heart and both risking their lives for a cause they  didn’t quite understand.

-------------

Two men fight and struggle against their captors in the confined storage space, fighting to grab hold of one another and falling just short, outstretched limbs unseen in the darkness.

“We’ll get out of here alive,” he yells “and we won’t have to be heroes!” Dirt and grime smudge as tears run down their faces, goodbyes left unsaid but not unheard.
