RP for salvagestime
[OOC: This a completely different verse from canon; it is an AU in which Jack does not die or become immortal, and thus continues to travel with the Doctor, through Seasons 2, 3, 4, and beyond~
This particular one takes place during the 2005 Christmas Special, while the Doctor is off changing into his suit for the first time and Rose, Mickey, and Jacky are preparing dinner]
Jack sat in the console room, looking blankly at the many dials and buttons on the TARDIS. His mind was still whirling, the adrenaline from their time spent on the Sycorax ship gone from his body. He was taking the regeneration better than Rose, but only by a slight margin. Somewhere in his mind, he still knew, without a doubt, that this was still his Doctor, the one he had run into during WW II. The only problem now was conving the rest of him that this was true.
He was, essentially, a different man. Different face, different personality, and soon to be different clothes. It wasn't enough to make him even consider leaving, not by a long shot, but it still made him feel vaguely uncomfortable. It had helped, that he'd said goodbye to the 'Old' Doctor before it had happened, back when they had faced the Daleks. That had been mere days ago, but for him it felt like a lifetime. Still, whether or not he could get his head wrapped around it, any moment now this new Doctor would finish dressing and walk out, and Jack would be forced to talk to him in private.
Well, forced wasn't really the right choice of word; it was the very reason he'd been sitting here and waiting all this time, rather than out there with Rose and her family. It didn't make the urge to avoid the conversation any less strong, but it kept him rooted to his chair.
