Help The DD Dliwayo School in South Africa

Nov 22, 2007 10:25

Recently, a group of very inspiring individuals jumped on a plane and headed to South Africa. Those individuals included the TOMS Shoes crew, the band Hanson and a photographer named Bryan Johnson. They went to deliver 50,000 pairs of new shoes to children in poverty, which is an amazing thing. And that's just the beginning.

While they were there, Hanson and Bryan visited a school called the DD Dliwayo School, located outside of Johannesburg. Hanson had visited the school before, and some of the children from the school had performed on their charity single, "Great Divide".

It was Bryan's first visit though. And he was so moved by the basic needs of these children, who are so eager to learn, that he has presented us with a great opportunity to help them.

He is selling a t-shirt through his blog for $30, every cent of which will benefit this school. If you can't afford $30 then you can donate whatever you can afford. If you want to donate more then you can do that also. You don't have to even order the t-shirt to donate if you don't want it.

The donations started coming in yesterday and he has already raised $2,000 for these kids. His goal is to raise $10,000 in the next 28 hours so he can actually present a check to the principal of the school before he leaves South Africa on Monday.

This is a very real and immediate way we can all better the lives of so many promising children. So today, Thanksgiving day in the USA, I urge you all to donate whatever you can to these kids.

You can see pictures, read more info and donate at Bryan's blog: http://www.abryanphoto.com/blog/

Thanks for your time!
