Today in the U.S., 1 in every 8 babies will be born prematurely. Some of them won't survive, and others will have health problems that could last a lifetime. The funds we raise in WalkAmerica support research that saves babies' lives.
The mission of the March of Dimes is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality.
Please join me on Saturday April 16th, 2005 and help me walk, raise money and awareness for premature babies.
My goal is to raise $500. You can visit my March of Dimes site
http://www.walkamerica.org/Nicfries if you would like to sponsor me or signup to walk.
$240 could provide educational videos and brochures to low-income pregnant women living in rural areas.
$460 could provide materials to help 150 pregnant women stop smoking.
$700 could supply 5 clinics serving the African-American community with prenatal education materials.
$1,000 could provide 100 families with a kit that helps older children cope with having a baby brother or sister in neonatal intensive care.
$3,000 could help educate 300 nurses about how to reduce the risk of premature birth.
When: Saturday April 16th
Time: Registration begins at 7AM, Walk begins at 8:30AM
