The Volvo is officially legal. Insurance, registration, license plate - the whole deal
Funny Story:
So my mom sent me $200 in the form of a cashiers check (THANKS MOM!!) to help cover the tax, tag, and title fees. I go to the Bank of Tallahassee, and they say they can't cash it because it's an out of state bank. Suprised me because I thought a cashiers check was like money, like a travelers check you know? So I go to Publix, they couldn't do it either. So I had to go to Wachovia, open a checking account, CALL the Solvay bank in Syracuse NY where the check was drafted, confirm that it was legit, speak to the lady who signed off on it - and finally Wachovia gave me the money. All that to get my car street legal. Oh well. On a good note there was no one at the tax collectors office when I went! Straight to the front of the would be line - I was done in 10 mins.
Things are tight (financially) at the moment, but the important this is I'm making it - and I suppose that's all you can ask for.
