Sorry for the spam. I'm trying to get caught up.

original - landmarks - g - in which Tristan settles in.
***

The first weekend at Beaumont, Tristan doesn't run. He walks everywhere instead, through the woods, down the trails, along the roads. He finds the old bike path and follows it as far as it goes, keeping landmarks in mind, eyes peeled for anything out of the ordinary that can help him find his way home. He walks into town and looks at the sleepy little main drag, jogs across the train tracks to the supermarket. He walks until the sun starts to dip down in the sky and then he walks back to the school. He's in his little apartment by dusk, digging into the dinner he picked up in town to the sound of his air conditioner chugging away in the window. His apartment is still barren and foreign, he's still the only McGreavy in a two hundred mile radius, he still has no friends and no idea what he's doing, but tomorrow morning he'll get up with the sun and run into town. On his way back, he'll know exactly how to get here, and that's the first step in making this place feel like home.
