"Really?"
"Yes," Susie says around a mouthful of hot dog.
"I'm not sure I can watch."
"Mom, it's not like I need you in the room watching."
"It's just so disgusting."
"Mom!" She daintily licked her thumb and forefinger.
"I mean, seriously Susie. I wanted popsicles and Cape Cod potato chips the whole time. Hot dogs with ketchup and chocolate sauce? It's just foul."
"You wanted popsicles?"
"And Cape Cod potato chips...no other brand would do."
Susie's hand hovered over the table for a moment before she chose her next victim. It had nothing on it, and I got a little choked up when her hand paused for a minute over the relish before moving to the chocolate sauce. I sighed with relief that was short lived. She went back to the relish after the chocolate sauce.
"Alright, I can't watch this anymore. You're just ruining good food." I stood up and stalked to the living room.
"Mom!" Susie's laughing voice followed me, "you were the one who suggested hot dogs for dinner. What did you think was going to happen? I'm pregnant and, as you have certainly seen before, I have weird cravings. You did this to yourself!"
