Juicing it: Election '08

Nov 06, 2008 20:06

So I accidentally dressed like Sarah Palin on election day. A cute little red dress and an updo. It was Warm! I was Celebrating Warmth!
*Additionally, I was voting for McCain. Granted, I knew my vote was useless, (No "every vote counts" nonsense. Did you SEE the footage from Grant Park? Yeah...that's where I voted...) but I figured I'd exercise my right to the democratic process anyway. And I certainly like the partying going down now. I just felt like throwing in a shout-out to the underdog.*
But you should have SEEN the nasty looks that I got from people as I walked into and out of the polling place. Elevator eyes, and not the good kind. Geez louise.
On top of that, the police perimeter around Obama's house was extended two blocks in every direction on Tuesday. Which included my apartment. We had to show ID to get onto our block. Exciting, but made less so by the total lack of address-bearing ID which we college students have. Luckily, Chapin had an electric bill bearing his name, and I had let my hair down enough to stop looking like the Republican VP nominee and more like a cute blonde girl who can smile her way past cops. Yay blondeness!
I did not go down to Grant Park; I settled instead for partying in HP and then champagne the next day.

I know. The question on everyone's mind was "What did YOU do during this historic Event, Paula?!?"
Well, now you know.
