I watched Losers, the new Netflix documentary. Sports documentaries are normally not my thing, but this looked like an interesting perspective - and it was. Not being into sports, all eight stories were new to me.
I went online and looked up reviews after finishing it, and found myself irritated by a reviewer who said that the people the documentary focused on were "not losers". Per my interpretation, the documentary is trying to redefine what it means to be a "loser". The people in the documentary lost - that makes them losers by definition. But they are also valuable people who have worthwhile stories to tell. They made significant contributions to their fields. They are not defined by their loss.
