Thanatos and Orpheus // Private Thread for the Win

[Thanatos is simply standing on the Yakushima beach as it rains, an open umbrella in one of his hands to keep himself from getting too soaked while still a little sick. It was only a few days after the typhoon so the area was a silent wreck of broken shells and crustaceans, the only sound against Thanatos' eardrums being the crashing of the waves ( Read more... )

[Why a beach of all things? Thanatos was still sick recovering from the typhoon and the subsequent Erebus assault and his being in the mall for any period of time made everything lose focus in tune with those ever-worsening pangs in his chest and waves of nausea to pair off with them. But... regardless of how serious he was, it was still a request he made. Which was really the only reason why he came with no complaint. This wasn't the average "Orpheus get here now" call. Serious. Too serious. And he immediately locked onto the warning Thanatos had given prior.]

[Just a black overcoat and one of those extendable umbrellas of the same color, rather reminiscent of one going to a funeral. And despite his worryingly pallid skin tone and the blank stare screaming of "you shouldn't be here you'll get sick again don't make me drag you inside" ... He gives a half bow to the other. If he's so serious about this, then I'll have to do the same for him. Show respect for your superiors, isn't that right?]

You called for me, Master Thanatos?

[Clearly, because the beach makes them both a little more calm. Orpheus would feel better out of the Mall and Thanatos wouldn't be affected by Erebus for at least another few hours. ... It takes a moment even after he hears Orpheus' voice for Thanatos to snap out of his gaze towards the ocean. What can we say, the waves are hypnotizing to one not used to them like Thanatos was. He slightly turns towards Orpheus, the black umbrella over his head dripping with the steady rain from the storm.]

That's right. I wanted to speak with you.

About?

[Most of the word is drowned out when the wind momentarily kicks up again, but it should be obvious what he asked. On reflex, the umbrella is tilted towards the direction the gust came from, effectively sparing his head and shoulders from getting dampened like rest of him slowly was. At least it was nice to have that clarity of mind slowly coming back. It would probably be helpful for the upcoming confrontation.]

[Thanatos tilts the umbrella enough to protect his head from being hit but his scarf flows in that gust of wind, only to return to Thanatos even more wet.]

I want to know why you've been so upset the past few days.

[Yep. Called it. Thanks for the warning Thanagod. 'Cause now you don't get any visible reaction of surprise to that question. Or any reaction at all. Completely expected with that detached expression that you would give to your guests or those seeking information. I already know what you're going to say before you say it. I already know what will happen before you even experience it. Which means this entire conversation is in my control.]

Just stress, sir. It is already being taken care of.

If it was 'just stress' then you wouldn't mind telling me what you spoke to the other Thanatos about. Thanatos said he slipped to you, "something that he wasn't sure about."

Other than that, he wouldn't say what it was.

That is because I told him not to tell another soul of that matter. It is something that regards me and me alone, and thus is my jurisdiction.

[Why yes, he did ignore those first two sentences. And despite his response being said so calmly, that last part comes off like a pointed message of STAY OUT OF IT.]

So he can know, but I can't? That doesn't sound right.

... Just because he's a God doesn't make him any better than I am.

... I didn't even know about it. [And it sounds like he didn't want to either.] As Death, it's only natural he knows about the souls he needs to collect. I'm sure in time you will be able to, as well.

........... [Okay yeah, wasn't expecting THAT. Have a raised eyebrow for your trouble.] I never said he was.

As Death, he shouldn't open his mouth about that! It doesn't make any sense, though. I won't be able to collect your soul. ... So, how is it he knows to collect yours?

... [Kicks up some wet sand towards the ocean.] Actions speak louder than words.

Do I look like a god of death to you? I'm just making assumptions on how he knew about it.

What are you talking about?

Knew about what?

... It doesn't matter right now.

That "something he wasn't sure about".

... [B|] Sir...

So it has to do with your soul?

[Damn it, I'm here to question you not you to question me!]

Why are you getting so upset over this?

[So you are, but I'm not letting you do it so easily.]

You're important to me.
