I mentioned to my boss that I was thinking of buying a computer, and he told me just to pick a good one and that the lab would pay for it. Apparently the faculty here has so much money coming in from grants and whatnot that they can easily write off a 1500-dollar personal computer as "miscellaneous expenses". I love my job :) Though I suspect this is also so I get a clue and stop spending so much time at work on the internet...

And I thought the free pizza at the weekly seminars was a great perk.
