It was hard enough to drag her away from work without a fight without any promise of kinky pseudo-public sex or the promise of a reason. But, luckily for him, she was hungry. Honestly, this was an apology breakfast. He hadn't made it home until later and by then she was curled up in bed.
They waited only ten minutes before being seated. Alex was dressed for work that day and it meant that he was a little above the dress code -- but higher up meetings required a different kind of dress.
After the waiter left them, Alex leaned in, giving Marion a quick kiss. As she sauntered off to the bathroom, Alex couldn't help but follow her with his eyes. Grinning, he looked down and licked his lips. How he had gotten so lucky, he had no idea.
"She's a regular Holly Go-Lightly," he heard from behind him.
He recognized that voice. Turning slowly, his suspicions were confirmed when he sat face to face with Jill Ebers.
"You know nothing about her," he replied. He wasn't going to let her rile him up.
"Oh, that's right. I also know nothing about you, apparently. You like breakfast?"
"Everyone likes breakfast," he shot back, a glance behind him.
"Whatever," Jill said, leaning in towards him. "Like the new one. She's cute. Dainty." Anger flashed in Alex's eyes but she leaned back. He could've punched her, truthfully. "Then again, I was before you were done with me. Now, I'm hardened to the real world, jaded -"
"Shut up," Alex sniped. He hoped Marion wasn't just powdering something as he made every attempt to get his ex girlfriend to leave.
