as the tension builds
tension is high as we near the days of summer. a once casual smile has turned into a blank stare as you pass through the hallway. you can almost hear the droning echos of our minds telling us ,"its almost summer. its almost summer." you can tell from expressions that everyone is on edge about grades projects and exams. you notice that every glance has become one that has obviously seen your face more than they would like. even friends grow tired of one another's common tendancies. you can see the look of despiration on teachers faces and the common countdown of days on their boards. (some even have the number of periods left) the upcoming 3 day weekend seems like cheap consolation compared to the 3 month vacation ahead. as each hour drags ahead we beg the clock to move faster but time mocks us and watches us squirm in our seats. even more tension is built by upcoming his people auditions along with other planning for next year when all any of us really want is to get through THIS year. in the words of The Exit "its a pressure cooker"
what makes this year move so much slower than all of the rest? perhaps for me it is because this is a summer of freedom approaching and a summer of new and grand adventures. maybe it is because of the wretched hurricanes that haunt us still. or maybe it is because the seniors are gone and we know they have already started their vacation without us. whatever it is ,school is ending so slowly that it has become torturous. 8 days. ......just 8 more days.
