No, really...

Being not-dead is fun.

Summer has flown by so quickly, it's crazy. And it sucks, but I guess that's how it works.

I've been working at KinderCare all summer... and while some days have been better than others, I've really enjoyed my time there so far. There has been mass drama in the last month or so... for instance: Ryan, my co-teacher, was planning on quitting after the summer was over... he got pneumonia and was out for a week, and on his first day back he got yelled at by our boss for something that was totally his fault. When it was time for his lunch break, he said "See ya, Brandon" which I didn't think anything of....... until he never came back. He just walked out on his lunch break and decided not to come back. Now he's not allowed back in the building, which is a shame because the kids loved him. It put a pretty big burden on me, though... he left a lot of (figurative) messes that I had to clean up, and it sprung me into sudden "head school age teacher" status, which came with new responsibilities. But I've handled them well, and have gotten numerous compliments from management about how well the room has improved in the last month. This now leaves me, out of ~20 teachers, the only male teacher working at my center. Hooray for stereotypes! >_<

One thing that has been hard is all the random goodbyes that have to be made. Half of the time, I don't know it's someones last day until they get picked up and start emptying out their stuff, because I guess parents don't feel it important enough to tell. Just last week two brothers in my room, Collin and Connor, randomly had their last day. These two were just awesome, great kids... and it was bummed me out to just see them randomly go. And today I found out from Jennifer that they're now going to a KinderCare FIVE minutes down the street, because that center buses to their school, which we don't cover. Bleh.

I should have waited to write in here when I wasn't dead tired, since I'm sure it would have been a great deal clearer... but, oh well.

Things that came out today:
Alias: Season 3
Angel: Season 4

Saturday I saw "Without a Paddle" (with Seth Green), and today I saw "The Village" (with Joaquin Phoenix). Both decent movies, but...

Oh baby!
