Sam really didn't want to be here. He was still upset about what Azazel was going to do to him or his family once he found them. He was also worried about the vision of his Dad and the blue Ford Taurus. How could he make sure his Dad was okay if he didn't know where they were? He was lost in his thoughts and didn't hear his Dad calling him.
“SAMUEL WINCHESTER!”
“Yes sir.” Sam jumped at the sound.
“Come on son, get out of the car.”
“Sorry Dad, still worried.”
“I'll be fine. Be on your best behavior understand?”
“Yes sir.”
The four of them walked up the steps and into the house of Missouri Mosley. John told the boys to sit in what looked to be a waiting room. Bobby and he headed back out to the Impala for supplies.
“Dad be careful and look out for the blue Ford Taurus.” Sam yelled at his father.
“I'll be fine son. Best behavior from both of you!”
“Yes sir!” They echoed.
Sam sat down and slumped forward. He was distressed. They were both nervous and bored just sitting there. Dean was getting antsy and was about to get up when Sam stopped him.
“Dude, don't do it. Because if you do, we're both gonna get our asses beat. Uncle Bobby and Dad will be right back.”
“I'm gonna go see if they need help.”
But before he could get up, Sam closed his eyes, thought about one of the magazines in front of them, mentally rolled it up and whacked Dean in the head with it.”
“Ow, what the hell Sammy.”
Sam whispered through gritted teeth,
“I already told you I'm not getting my ass beat for something you did.” Sam whispered.
“Boy, you do that to your brother again and you'll feel my wooden spoon.”
Sam was looking around the room trying to find the woman that yelled at him.
“Sam, what's wrong?” Dean asked nervously.
“Who said that?”
“Said what? You aren't making sense.”
“You didn't hear a woman yelling at me for doing that to you?”
“No.”
“Why would anyone be yelling at you Samuel?” John bellowed. “What were you doing to get yelled at?”
“Ah hi Dad, nothing really.”
“What did I tell you when I walked out the door?”
“To be on my best behavior sir.”
“What did you do to cause Missouri to yell at you?”
“Dad, nobody yelled at Sammy. I was here too and nobody said anything.” Dean stated.
“Dean, stay out of this.” John yelled. “Samuel, I asked you a question.”
“I hit Dean with a magazine.” Sam whispered, intentionally leaving out the part about not using his hands.
“Dude, what's wrong with you? Why did you confess? Nobody yelled at you.” Dean yelled shaking his head. “Geez, for someone not wanting their ass beat, you sure have a funny way of showing it.”
“Dean Winchester, stop yelling at your brother or I'll whack you with a spoon.”
Dean was frantically looking for Missouri now too.
“ Samuel, stand up and come here.” John ordered.
Sam reluctantly did as he was told. John spun him around and gave him three hard swats which brought him up on his toes and tears to his eyes.
“Now go sit down and behave.”
“Yes sir.”
“John Winchester, that wasn't really necessary.” Missouri said walking out of the back room. “I handled it.”
“I know and that's the problem.” John said looking at her. “They were under orders to behave and if they were behaving, then handling it wouldn't have been necessary. Speaking of behaving, Dean what were you doing for Sammy to whack you with a magazine?”
“He didn't do anything Dad.” Sam quickly stated. “I was bored.”
“Dean?” John asked.
“I really didn't do anything.”
Missouri gave them a look that silently told them,
“You boys should be ashamed of yourselves for lying to your Daddy like that!”
They didn't confess but did have the decency to look ashamed. John noticed it but didn't call them on it. He didn't want to start out totally on the wrong foot.
“Well boys, come on already I ain't got all day.” Missouri said. “Follow me.”
Bobby shook his head and picked the bags back up. Sam and Dean got up to get their duffel bags. Sam rolled his eyes and followed behind Dad and Bobby. Dean brought up the rear. He rolled his eyes and thought to himself,
'What a bitch.'
Missouri cuffed him upside the head as he walked passed her and whispered in his ear,
“Next time you cuss at me, I'll turn you over my knee. Got that?”
Dean paled, gulped and said,
“Yes Ma'am.”
“Dean, Missouri? Is there a problem I need to take care of?” John asked.
Dean waited for her to answer first. He was sure he was about to get a lesson in manners, but she said,
“No John, I was just thinking about the last time I saw him. Now, go stand next to Sammy so I can get a look at you. Oh you boys have sure grown up handsome.”
Then she pointed to Dean and said,
“And you were one goofy looking kid too.” then she laughed.
“Sammy.” She said as she grabbed his hand. She sighed and quietly said,
“Oh honey, I'm sorry about what Azazel has put you through. That was a hell of a hard lesson to learn about running away, wasn't it?”
“Yes Ma'am. I won't do that again.”
“How do you know what happened to him? Dean asked. “Did my Dad tell you?”
“No, Sammy was thinking it just now.”
Dean looked at Sam and asked,
“Were you?”
Sam nodded as Missouri turned on Dean and yelled,
“Boy, didn't I just tell you he did? Why would I lie?”
“Dean, apologize!” John bellowed.
“Ma'am, I didn't mean anything by that. I was just shocked that you could do that. I'm sorry.”
“Trust me Dean, if I thought you meant to be disrespectful, you'd have been over my knee.”
“Yes Ma'am. Sorry Ma'am.”
Then Dean turned to John and said, “Dad, I didn't mean to accuse her of lying. I was just shocked at her abilities. Sorry.”
“Watch yourself son. That's one for all of the mischief you've caused since we got here.”
“Yes sir.”
“Don't say anything Missouri.” Bobby advised. “You'll get the, 'They're my kids and I'll raise them the way I see fit.' speech.”
They both laughed when John stated through gritted teeth,
“They are mine and I will raise them how I want.”
Missouri quickly changed the subject.
“Would you like some tea, hot cocoa, or coffee?”
She headed to the kitchen to make 1 tea, 2 cocoas and 2 coffees after she got their responses. She walked in, passed out the drinks and sat down. She looked at Bobby and said,
“Singer, you put your feet on my coffee table and I'll whack you with a spoon.”
Which caused the Winchesters to erupt into hysterical laughter.
“I didn't do anything?” Bobby defended.
“No, but you were thinking about it.”
Dean and Sam couldn't stop laughing. Bobby looked at them and asked,
“What?”
“It's just funny!” Sam barely stopped laughing enough to say.
“Yeah, someone threatened the king of the wooden spoon with a wooden spoon.” Dean busted out laughing again.
They were laughing so hard that the boys started crying which made everyone laugh harder. John sat back smiling and looked at everyone on in the room trying to commit this to memory since it doesn't happen all that often. He looked over at Missouri as she touched his knee and said,
“You can make this happen more often Johnny. Those boys love you.”
“I love them too but I need to be tough on them to protect them.”
“Lighten up every now and then.”
“And risk losing them? No!”
“It may be work but you can find a balance.”
He closed his eyes, let out a deep breath, looked back at her and said,
“Okay, I'll try.”

The demon slowly walked into the room where Azazel, Meg and Tom were sitting. He didn't have the news that Azazel was looking for, so he was scared to deliver the message. He knew that he more than likely wouldn't be walking back out of the door.
“So?” Meg asked impatiently.
“Darling,” Azazel interrupted. “Give the man the chance to answer.”
He stood there not saying anything. Azazel got up and circled around him making him nervous. He looked from Tom, to Meg, then to Azazel. The yellowed-eyed demon stopped directly in front of him and asked,
“Did you find Sammy yet?”
“Um,” He cleared his throat. “Nnnnn...no sir. No trace of him has been found.”
Azazel patted him on his shoulder and said,
“I see. I see.”
Then he tossed him into the wall, raised his hand and exorcised him from his host.
“Tommy, get another team on your brother's trail. NOW!”
“Yes sir.”
“Meg, pay a visit to the roadhouse and see if you can dig up any information.”
“Yes sir.”
“You're good kids. Really good kids.”

“Hey Bobby?” John whispered coming back from the bathroom.
Bobby got up and met him in the hallway.
“What's up Johnny?”
“Can you take Dean out and get some supplies and dinner or for a run or something? I need him out of the house while Missouri and I talk to Sam.”
“Sure but he isn't going to go easily.”
“Yeah, I know. We'll fill you all in later. I just want Sam and her to have some time to create a plan to help Sammy fight Azazel off.”
“I get it. I really do but Dean isn't going to agree.”
“I have ways to make sure he does.”
“Yeah, I know those ways too. I was hoping to avoid them and the fight behind them, idjit.”
“Thanks Bobby.”
They walked back into the living room. Dean and Sam looked up at them. John sat down and Bobby said,
“Dean you're with me. Let's go.”
Dean looked at Sammy then at his Dad. John's face said it all. He either went with Uncle Bobby willingly or sporting a sore backside. He looked defeated. He reached over and squeezed Sammy's knee. Then turned to Sammy and whispered,
“You better tell me everything.”
“Dean don't go!” Sam panicked and grabbed Dean's hand.
Dean could hear the nervousness in Sam's voice. He leaned closer so nobody else heard and said,
“Sammy, it's gonna be okay.”
“No it won't.” Sam said shaking. “Dad doesn't know.”
“Dean, let's go.” Bobby hollered.
“One second sir.” Dean replied then said, “Sammy, calm down.”
“He won't understand.” Sammy whispered as he started to cry.
'He'll want to hunt me.' he thought then begged,
“Daddy, please let Dean stay.”
“No.”
“John, Bobby may I have a word?” Missouri asked. “In private,”
“Sure.” They answered as they walked out of the room.
John wasn't happy. He knew she was going to try and tell him what to do with his boys. She looked over at the boys and saw Dean hug Sammy as he tried to calm him down.
“It will be okay boys.” She said.
She walked into the hall and closed the door behind her. John and Bobby had walked into the waiting room and turned to look at her. John looked down at her and said,
“Missouri, before you even start, Bobby is taking Dean with him to get us time to talk to Sam and work with him.”
“John Winchester, don't you look down at me and try and intimidate me. You don't scare me at all. Dean is staying right where he is, by Sam's side or Sam'll be too damn scared to tell me anything.”
“I'll be with him. He'll talk.”
“You don't think the poor kid is afraid of what you're going to think about him. He's powerful John. He's got a really strong gift and he can do a lot with it. He's going to clam up then explode if you force him to. How much do you even know about what he can do?”
“What do you mean? What can he do?”
“No wonder the kid's in a full blown panic. I'll bet Dean's witnessed his powers and not freaked so he trusts him,”
“Powers? What exactly is my son?”
“That's the problem right there! He's just Sammy. He may have gifts but he's still just Sammy and Dean knows that.”
“Don't tell me what to do with my kids!”
“John, he thinks you'll want to hunt him if you knew.”
“WHAT?”
“That's why he hasn't told you or Bobby.”
“Why are you dragging me into the conversation?” Bobby asked.
“Does Sammy know about your wife and what you had to do?”
Bobby looked at the ground to regain composure then he cleared his throat and said,
“Yes, he's aware.”
“Well that explains why he thinks you'll want to kill him.”
“I'd never kill Sammy.”
“To him he's just your nephew and not even a real one. If you killed someone you loved enough to marry, you'd definitely kill him. He's been hiding all of this from you. Does he get headaches, nosebleeds, or is he tired a lot?”
“Yes to all three.” John answered.
“Does this happen after he's been alone or with just Dean?”
“Yes.” he said again. “What can Sammy do?”
“I think that's for him to tell you.”
“Do you know?”
“Not the full extent but enough.” She said then asked, “So, are you going to let Dean stay?”
John looked at Bobby and they both nodded. John answered,
“If you think it's best for Sam, then yes.”
“I think you all need to be there as a family to show him your support.”
“Okay, then we agree.”
“There is one more thing. When he shows you what he can do, you can't have a negative reaction. It will shut him down and make him feel like a freak that needs to be hunted right alongside of Azazel.”
“Can we get a little warning of what to expect before we go in there so we can control our reaction?” Bobby asked.
“To start with, John Sam threw that chair at you when he got angry at you.”
“He never touched it.” John responded.
“I know, he thought it.”
“WHAT!”
“He also tossed the car that was headed straight for him out of the way and across the yard.”
“He can move things with his mind?” Bobby asked.
“He can do a lot more than that. Azazel has been training him.”
“But why doesn't he just refuse?” John wondered.
“First of all he hurts Sam in the form of Don and when that stopped working,....”
“He tried to kill Dean.” John said realizing the mare was sent by Azazel.
“Exactly, now can you both handle this? Sam will fail without the support and acceptance of all three of you.”
“Yes, I'll do anything for my son.”
“Of course, I love that boy.” Bobby answered.
“Okay, our plan of attack will be to find out what Sam can do, then I'll teach him ways to guard himself against Azazel's onslaughts. Ways to block access to his thoughts and Dreams.”

“Dean, please don't leave me!” Sam cried as soon as Missouri closed the door.
“I won't. I don't care what Dad threatens or does, I'm not going to leave you Sammy.”
“If they know what I can do, they'll want to hunt me.”
“You mean Dad and Uncle Bobby?”
“Yes, Dad is upset that Azazel killed Mom so he will want to hunt me for being like him and Uncle Bobby killed his wife because of a demon. Do you think he'll hesitate to do the same to me? I don't.”
“They love you and would never harm you Sammy.”
“I'm sure Mrs. Singer thought the same thing.”
“Uncle Bobby didn't know any other way back then. Things are different now because they know a lot more on how to get rid of the evil without hurting the person.”
“I'm not possessed Dean. Demon blood runs in my veins and the only way to get rid of it is by spilling it all......That means I'm dead!”
“Hear them out first. Don't jump to conclusions.”
“I'm not showing them anything!”
“Then how can they help you?”
“I won't do it Dean.”
“If Dad wants you to you will! You won't have a choice.”
Sam was in a full blown panic now. He got up, looked around like a trapped animal and headed towards the big window as far from the door his Dad and Uncle Bobby went out as possible. When he opened the window, Dean had him around the waist and wasn't letting him go.
“Sammy, stop!” Dean yelled.
“I've got to get out of here. I need to.......”
“No you don't. Didn't you learn your lesson in Flagstaff?”
Sam stopped fighting and let Dean pull him to the floor. He curled in a ball and starting crying. Dean held his baby brother and whispered words of comfort into his ears.
“It's okay Sammy.”
“Nnnnnnoooo it's not.”
John opened the door when he heard something hit the floor and heard Sammy crying.
“What's going on in here? Sammy, are you okay?”
“I got him Dad. He was feeling scared so I opened the window so he could catch his breath. Gimme a minute with him and he'll be okay again.”
John walked over towards his sons followed by Missouri and Bobby. Bobby and Missouri found a seat and John went to help his boys up. Sammy was shaking hard and couldn't quit even though he tried to stop.
“Come on boys. I need to talk to you both. Have a seat back on the couch.” John said.
Dean practically carried Sam to the couch and Sam was almost sitting on Dean's lap. He had his feet on the couch and he was curled into a ball with his head leaning back on Dean's shoulder.
“What's up Dad?” Dean asked trying to sound casual.
“Well, we want to talk to you both about the reason we are here.”
“What's that sir?” he questioned.
“We're here to help Sam.”
“Help me h..h...how?” Sam hiccupped.
John walked over to the couch, crouched down so he was eye level with his boys and said,
“Well, first we need to know what you can do.”
“NO! No, I can't. I won't.”
“Sammy,” he said gently putting his hand on his knee. “We can't help you if we don't know what we are helping you from.”
“Daddy, don't make me. You'll hate me and you'll both want to kill me.” Sam sobbed.
He sat up and started rocking back and forth on the couch. John's hand was pushed off Sam's knee by some kind of force. Dean tried to get hold of him but he was rocking too fast. He was chanting as he rocked.
“Don't make me. Don't make me. Don't make me.”
“Sammy, we need to know.” John said
“Don't make me.......”
Dean tried to grab his shoulder but couldn't get close. It was like a force field.
“Sammy, come on dude, it's Dean.”
“Don't let them make me.”
“Tiger, stop that and talk to me.” John pleaded.
“NO!” Sam screamed with such energy that John was knocked on his butt and the windows rattled.
“ENOUGH SAMUEL JOSEPH WINCHESTER.” Missouri yelled. “You're going to hurt someone.”
Sam stopped instantly.
“M'sorry Ma'am, is everyone okay? M'sorry.”
“It's going to be okay baby. You need to just calm down so we can talk.” Missouri encouraged.
“They're all I have and soon they aren't going to want me.” Sam said barely above a whisper. “Azazel will be the only one to want me.”
“I'll always want you Sammy. You're my pain in the ass little brother.”
“Thanks jerk.”
“You're welcome bitch.” Dean said smiling. “Ouch.” he yelled rubbing the back of his head looking at Missouri.
“Serves you right Dean.” Sammy laughed.
“It's okay Missouri. It's their way of letting each other know they care.” Bobby joked,
“Damn funny way to show it if you ask me.”
“Sorry miss Missouri.” Dean said.
“Just watch it.”
“Yes Ma'am”
John turned to Sam and said,
“Tiger, nothing's going to change the way I feel about you. I love you. You're my son and we're your family and we'll work this out as a family.”
“I hope so Daddy. I love you too.”
“I will always support you Sam.” Bobby added. “You're like a son to me boy.”
“Thanks for saying that. I appreciate you all trying, even though you'll all change your minds soon.”
“I say we all get some dinner then we can talk about your abilities Sammy.” Missouri suggested, “Then tomorrow we can find some place where you can show them to us.”
