Raven was rapidly becoming worn out by goodbyes, but she wouldn't let Hoshi leave without one. "Who am I going to talk to about Rumor Gal now?" she pouted.

"You can always call me or email me on Monday nights, and we can talk about the latest episode," said Hoshi, giving Raven a smile. She straightened up and put the dog biscuit inside the pet carrier sitting on the bed.

"Not unless you manage to set up a web cam," said Hoshi with a sigh. "I really wish I could stay. I know I'll be able to visit, but it just won't be the same."

"Web cam?" Raven repeated. "That is a camera that is part of a laptop, correct? I am not certain if mine has one but I can check."

"A lot of the newer laptops come with them built-in, but you can also get one pretty easily if your laptop doesn't have one," said Hoshi. "But if you got a laptop in the last year, I'm pretty sure you have the camera built-in already."

Porthos crept out from under the bed, wondering why Hoshi had stopped waving the dog biscuit.

"I believe mine does," Raven said, holding out a hand to Porthos. She could sense his unease and sent him a gentle wave of comfort to try to lure him out. "But I have never had cause to use it. Perhaps I will learn now."

Porthos tentatively crept toward Raven's outstretched hand. He wasn't too upset about leaving, to be honest. He just wasn't sure he wanted to go in the carrier.

"They're pretty easy to figure out. There's just one important thing to remember with a web cam," continued Hoshi. "If you're taking your clothes off, you want to cover up the camera with a piece of tape first."

"It is all right," Raven said soothingly, scritching Porthos's head. "Everything will be fine. Do not be afraid."

She looked up at Thena. "Why would I...oh," she said. "People could use it to watch me when I do not want them to? They may have already been watching me?" Suddenly she wasn't too keen on this web cam thing.

"I have heard stories of such things happening," said Thena Hoshi. "Personally, I turn all my PADDs upside down on the desk before getting undressed."

Porthos relaxed somewhat and sat down. He waved one of his paws at Raven, wondering if she would give him the dog biscuit while Hoshi's attention was elsewhere.

"That seems wise," Raven said, giving HOSHI dammit a worried look. "I hope no one has been watching me."

She picked up a dog biscuit and held it out to Porthos. She was such a sucker for puppy dog eyes, even literal ones.

"I think that unless you've regularly been undressing while using the laptop, you're safe," said Hoshi. "Anyway, I promise I'll be keeping in touch, especially on Monday nights. And eventually, once Joan and I get our apartment set up, I might even have some Rumor Gal viewing parties."

Porthos eagerly accepted the dog biscuit, but he retreated underneath the bed with the treat in his mouth.

"And I can come back and visit often!" said Hoshi, getting down on her hands and knees to look under the bed. "Of course, first we're going to stay with my parents for a few days. That is, if I can get Porthos into his carrier so we can make our portal to Japan..."

"When are you going to be living?" Raven asked. Oh, only in Fandom.

She peeked under the bed. "Porthos, do not be afraid," she said soothingly, sending him more comfort. "You must get into the carrier so that Hoshi can bring you to your new home. I promise it will be all right."

"As far as I know, the apartment is in this time period. But really, you never know what the universe is going to throw at you," said Hoshi. "Of course, my mom and dad are in the future. I suppose that means I have time to catch Porthos, right?"

Porthos seemed to relax, but he remained in his hiding place under the bed. He wasn't ready to go anywhere yet.
