A weekend - just what I needed

This past weekend has been an absolute tonic. I was feeling rather run down and crabbity last week (possible nicotine withdrawl symptoms) but after a glorious weekend full of fun, frolics and some quite fabulous people, I'm happy-go-lucky again. *grin*

Friday night was a quiet night in watching the basketball with silenttex: lots of fun and so relaxing that Saturday felt like Sunday as I felt like I'd already had a day off.

Saturday saw me travelling into town, suitably armed with a Thermos flask of Pimms and a box of cookies, for a picnic with the Champagne Set (so much easier than listing you all separately darlings, you know who you are!) in Lincoln's Inn Fields and then repairing for a nearby pub for more drinkies. The pub was surprisingly nice and not unbearably noisy so I ended up staying out much later than I expected. It was lovely to chat with everyone and to meet (again) jondiesch after having one of those scary small world moments on Friday when I saw a picture of him linked on another person's journal and discovered I knew him from my time in Leeds. He has, and it's really the only word for it, blossomed since I last knew him!

Ooh, ooh, madcatwoman! I met sneerpout at last. She's lovely, we had a good old chinwag until I realised that it was getting late and I needed to hie my way back to Essex.

Sunday started out with Game 6 of the Stanley Cup finals (ice hockey) that I'd taped from the night before. Ice hockey is the only sport I really follow, although I can happy watch a game of pretty much anything except football (although if we get to the semi finals of the World Cup then I'll probably watch that). One of the reasons I like ice hockey so much (aside from the complete lack of support over here so one doesn't have to deal with drunken fans all the time, I'd probably go right off it if I ever moved to Canada) is that there are very few prima donnas and the players actually seem to earn their money. There's none of this wimpy 'I can't play, I've broken my toe' bollocks. A player once had one of his teeth shear off in the middle of a game and not only did he not miss any ice time, he had root canal surgery in between periods!

After that it was more relaxing, a torturous visit to the gym and I finished the weekend off with more relaxing.

Life is good. I hope it's good with you too.
