I think it would be more interesting if they wanted to fight each other - seeing grudges and grievances fought out for the edification of the masses.

Perhaps not, or perhaps you had given me higher hopes for I would be genuinely impressed by a rider who can dismount another while intoxicated. Now I am disappointed that that isn't the case.

It sharpens your skill at armed horsemanship. That would be important for those training as soldiers, especially in the mounted cavalry.
