If you remember when I was looking for jobs, I decided that it was best to quit my job on the Cape because the station was for sale and I was afraid of losing my job. Well, I found out today that Monday it happened. WKPE (where I worked) and sister station WFCC transferred to Sandab Media on Monday. WFCC is still in existance, Sandab's AC station moved to 104.7 where my station was, and My old station moved to 103.9 as Classic Rock WKPE 103.9. Only two people remain...
So, right now I am having a drink for them. I'm glad I'm not there...
I saw Blades of Glory today. it was really good, and I highly recomend it. But I keep wanting to call it Blades of Steel. If you get this reference, props to you.
I find it mind-boggling that the US is looking to appoint a "War Czar." Apparently we are now a war-mongering dictatorship. WAIT...
Nicole, what I was telling you blew up in my face, and now I feel like an ass. I still feel kinda shitty, though less than before.
I decided it would be best to spring clean my life. I threw out lots of stuff that I don't need. I redesigned my myspace page. I sort of quit my job with the City of Evanston. I kicked someone to the curb and said "fuck you." Possibly mistakenly so. Maybe its for the better, or maybe its not. However, these are cards I've dealt myself, so I guess I have to deal with them.
I say I sort of quit the City of Evanston, because I still work there. But I quit, too. Last week I was given a job offer (for a position I had been temporarily filling), and they asked if I would take it. I said that I was interviewing with WXLC on Friday, and that I would call them afterward to tell them what happened. So, I did, said I would probibly be good to work any day of the week except friday (this job doesnt have normal hours). I spoke to Haynes, my new boss, and confirmed that what I thought was in deed the case. So, I call the City of Evanston to tell them that everything was set per what I had said preveously. They told me that they were actually not considering me, that they had accepted the resume of someone else before they even asked me, and they hired her. I said I quit. But I still work there in another department.
You would think that almost 10 years with a company would give you some credibility. apparently that is not the case. It is probibly a better thing, anyway. I kinda feel the need to try something different and meet new people anyway.
But, as you can tell, I am still very much flying by the seat of my pants. When stability comes, i will let you know. Until then...
Oh, one more thing: My air schedule at XLC is Sat and Sun 6 - 10 AM CENTRAL. Thats 7 - 11 EASTERN. You can listen to me live at www.xlc.com. I am also WXLC's Imaging Director. Still not full time like I was looking for, but its a good start for the Chicago market.
