I left the house at 4 with the purpose of going to PLUTO'S to get take out salads for my mommy and myself. I then, however, saw that the Squat and Gobble on Chestnut had finally opened. I couldn't resist--I had to check it out. I've grown to truly enjoy my solitary strolls on Chestnut street. They're very soothing, but I can't remember the last time I sat down to a meal all alone. Something seemed very appealing about sitting outside Squat and Gobble on a nice day watching people go by. So I did. I went next door to Books Inc, and I purchased The New Yorker (the only magazine I DO read, and the only magazine my mother does NOT read, which means we don't get it at our house) and picked up an issue of The Onion. I sat down right outside the quiet Squat and Gobble, which has a very lovely and spacious atmosphere, and I read The New Yorker while drinking my diet coke and eating my incredible chicken ceaser salad. It was perfection. Listening in on the occasional conversation and reading the only well written article I've read about the Da Vinci Code while listening to my newly purchased South African toyi-toyi CD was just what I needed. I feel so relaxed.
