Can has job please?

Laura and I have spent a significant chunk of today working on our U.S. government applications. We picked the same day to do it because it's very stressful, and so we can proofread each other's KSAs. It's rather difficult, while we're both interested in slightly different fields, a lot of the jobs we want require Secret to Top Secret levels of security clearance, which can take a year to get. It's easier to go for an entry level position, which only requires your basic background check, and then get security clearance as you move up, so that's the approach we're taking. Still, there's something really unnerving about writing an essay about why (fill in the blank) should want you and what makes you so amazing, blah blah. Somehow I think "Hey, I'm smart and can be highly motivated for decent pay" isn't what they're looking for...

So far, applied for two jobs at the Department of Defense and one at the Defense Intelligence Agency. Kind of nervous (read: abject terror).

Graduation is next month. I have a job to tide me over for the summer (our apartment lease is up in July), but it would be really nice to have an actual career to move on to. I love Carolina. I love Chapel Hill. Both are deeply a part of who I am, and I will miss them. But I'm ready to go. (Also, I'm ready to not be poor, haha)
