i had planned to post this yesterday, but i also planned to do the work yesterday...
my goal for particularly today, but the weekend in general, is to make significant progress on this corset. i would love to say 'finish it' but i am the world's slowest sewer and i really don't think that is a realistic goal.
yesterday i fit the mockup a last time (i was mostly just putting it on to make sure i hadn't screwed up the fit through the boobs - i didn't even hook it up through the hips). i have a sneaky suspicion i'm doing something wrong, because my bust gores are the weirdest shape, but i can learn more about it some other time. i just want this thing done.
the left has the gaps in the gores pinned in and the right does not. i thought i took a picture of how it looked at the last fitting after i took in the gaps at the top of the gores and cut the neckline, but apparently i did not.
i also started picking apart the mockup and ironing the seams flat again so i could transfer the pattern back to paper. normally i just use the mockup as the new pattern, but i've made enough changes, and i'm going to increase the seam allowance to an inch for felling the seams, so i felt more comfortable with the idea of tracing it back out.
halfway through the second side my aunt started using the iron so i took a break to work on my fencing results archive, and then to get out of having to go pick my cousin up from school i kept doing archives, and that was the end of my day's work on the corset.
today i finished ironing (interrupted by taking my cousin to school and labeling christmas boxes - i was caught this morning :P) the pieces. initially i was planning to cut off the seam allowances from the mockup and completely redraw them, but now that i've come to it i'm finding i'm much too lazy for that sort of work. instead i'm just tracing out the seam lines on the pattern and i'll go from there.
blue ink is my designated final-draft color.
that's as far as i've gotten today, and this entry took me through my bowl of oatmeal, so i'm off to tracing seam lines again!
