[When Ling found himself walking the streets of Luceti again, he couldn't help but feel slightly amused to find himself back in this place, almost as if he'd never left. Strange how he had thought it was all a 'dream', but never an important one. Clearly it was very important now. After situating himself with some clothing, managing to find ( Read more... )

[Whoa, whoa, not a voice he expected to hear when he checked the journal today. Have a surprised Elric bro.]

Ling!?

[Not Greed?]

Oh, so you're here after all. I didn't see you in your room.

[Though he did find OTHER things in there. Which he may or may not have kept.]

[Okay, that's definitely not Greed. Why, though? He'd figured that Greed would be the most in control like always. Still, at least he remembers Luceti. That makes things easier.]

I've told you before that you should be using the door, remember?

You have mentioned it a few times. [And then he ignored it plenty of times.]

[And yet Edward keeps asking. How silly. Moving on, though, since he knows it's a losing battle-]

I'd welcome you back, but I'd rather have gone back, too. You got to keep your memories?

Along with some new ones to go with them. [In other words, he actually did stuff during that month he was gone. Even if it only amounted to about a week back home.] How long has it been?

[That pings Ed pretty clearly, and his eyes widen a little. Ling and Greed had already been from the Promised Day, hadn't they? So that meant...]

Just over a month, I think. It's September now. ...What about you?

[Wow, it's sort of hard to believe that much time passed. He figured it would be more one to one.]

It's been about a week and a half. I will say this about Luceti, it's better than crossing the desert.

[A week and a half? Crossing the desert? Damn. Answers that question. He's heard it before, but it's still nice to get that extra confirmation.]

Sounds like we won.

More or less. I've got my philosopher's stone now. I was on my way to become Emperor.

[... which is going to be an amazing struggle. This is kind of a welcome diversion, given he now is absolutely certain time stands still.]

You already had one. Did Greed agree to go back with you?

[That doesn't sound like him. Though he's already wondering about whether or not something happened- Greed's absence is really weirding him out. If he doesn't show up by being mentioned...]

[... it was inevitable that would come up. It's not a subject Ling likes to visit. The Promised Day might have been great for a lot of people, but for Ling, he lost two of the most important people to him.]

No.

[....So. Greed's gone, then. Edward's not sure how he should feel about that; Greed isn't an enemy by far, but he's not the most reliable ally, either, and he doubts the homunculus would accept a title like "friend". Though it's undeniable that Greed's presence had been a big help in getting information about the Promised Day, not to mention he was far from the worst of Father's gang... and Ling doesn't look or sound thrilled about this development.

Okay, let's try a different angle.]

...Emperor, huh? Does that mean I'll make it into Xing's history books after all?

[At some point he'll want to let Ed know that it was Greed who ultimately saved all of Amestris (Ed helped a little), but not like this.]

Not likely. I do have a reputation to think about, after all.

[Ed's not in any hurry. Right now it's enough to just know that they're okay.]

You're going to be one stingy emperor.

You should just hope I be a friendly one. [But his ascent to power aside, he's more curious about what he missed. Which leads to...]

So, anything happen while I was gone?
