I've been ravenously reading The Dark Tower series by Stephen King.
I read the first, The Gunslinger in an afternoon. The second, The Drawing of the Three took me longer because class started up again and I was trying to draw it out as long as possible (I didn't have the third).
Now, I read The Gunslinger when I was a freshman in high school. I remember reading it over the summer. I liked it well enough at the time, but only manages to get a few chapters into the second book before I gave it up.
I picked them up again last week. Amazing. I love it.
So, last night I was lamenting the fact that I didn't have enough money to buy the rest of the series and that the third book wasn't showing up in the library's online system.
After class today, I stopped by the Barnes & Noble in Rochester hoping to obtain a copy of the third book. I wandered into the used book section, and they had most of them there so I grabbed the third one thinking, "Well, six dollars isn't so bad!" On my way to the cash register I saw a sign stating that all used books were 50% off the used price.
So I hopped back and grabbed the ones they had! I picked up the best condition versions of III, IV, and V. On my way out, I wandered past the publisher's clearance section and happened to notice that they had the VI book in hardcover for $7. I grabbed this as well.
Normally, I'm not much of an impulse buyer. But I could not pass this up. I got all of the books for $15! I am just missing VII (I think) but I also think that these will keep me busy for some time!
What a lucky day! I don't have these very often!
