The Stornian takes a step backward, wrapping its tentacles around itself in what Ianto can only assume is self defence (the archive lists the species as harmless after all), blue blossoming on the green scales of its throat like a bruise. But it isn’t until it dips its head, apparently not knowing where to look, and the wail it's making morphs into a low, trilling purr that Ianto finally realises what he’s watching.
Jack chatting up aliens on Torchwood’s time really shouldn't come as a surprise to him by now, but it does.
He turns on his heel, and leaves.
