It seems ridiculous
but I think I actually am becoming a "medievalist."
I hate the modern social structure's absence of familial closeness, I hate the class-exploitation that is effectively inseparable from capitalism, and I hate the lack of a solid infrastructure that comes hand in hand with industrialization. Obviously things can't go back, but I like reminiscing about the days of Paris and Oxford Universities, and the cathedral based learning of the 15th centuries. I wish I lived in the high middle ages, when serfdom was receding as a social construct, but before things started going downhill.
