POSTING ORDER: Declan, Renee, Liam

After the extremely brief conversation online with his baby brother, there was no question in the fact Declan was going to go right over there. Liam had a knack of diluting things ( Read more... )

Renee had already been on her way out of Sophie and Ethan's place when the text message from Declan came through. She only had plans to hit the ice cream parlour at the end of the block, the walk hopefully helping to ease the ache in her back. The ice cream was nothing but an afterthought when she got the text, though. Last she looked, Neil had been asleep, and she had been trying to keep her distance to give Sophie and Ethan some privacy. She already felt like she was imposing and they seemed to be having some issues of some sort. The last thing she wanted was to make it worse for them when they were already putting up with so much having her there ( ... )

Liam rested his elbow on the armrest of the sofa bed and put his head in his hand. "I don't know. I haven't looked. I was just about to take a shower before you came. In fact, I still want to take a shower." He stook up stiffly, feeling the pain start to make itself more known in various parts of his body. But before he could go anywhere, his apartment bell went again and he sighed, dropping his head down tiredly. It was only when he did this that he felt something tickle in his nose and he put his hand up, realising it had just started to bleed. He resisted the urge to cry and took some tissues from the box on the floor to hold them against his nose. "Can you get that for me please?" he asked quietly.

"Jesus, Li," Declan cursed softly as he saw the blood on Liam's fingers. That was some delayed noseblood, but at the end of the day, he knew he really had no idea exactly what the extent of what happened to Liam was. For all he knew, this wasn't the first nosebleed. It could just be one that had stopped and now was starting again. He peeled some more tissues from the box and pressed them into Liam's other hand before he quickly bounded over to the door and unlocked it, pulling it open ( ... )

One look over Declan's shoulder at their little brother, and it didn't take a genius for Renee to connect the dots. In fact, her breath caught up in her throat in a gasp at the sight of him and she went straight over to Liam's empty kitchen to get a bowl of warm water with a handtowel and found a medical ice pack in the freezer of the otherwise empty appliance. Liam was training to be a doctor, of course he had an icepack on hand, if nothing else. She brought it over to wear Liam was standing and gently took him by the elbow. She didn't know where he was hurt, so she was extra-cautious. "Sit down, sweetie. I'm going to get you cleaned up. Here, give me those tissues, I'll get rid of them. You know the drill. Head tilted forward a little ( ... )

"Tired. I want to... to shower... and sleep," Liam replied flatly. He was sitting stiffly and awkwardly. His neck and back felt sore, so sitting with his head forward was taking effort he didn't really have. All he could taste was blood. This wasn't the first time his nose had bled. It was bleeding after the hit to the face, but it stopped in the cab on the way home. He didn't want to go to the emergency room... again. He didn't want to be anywhere near hospitals, and he certainly didn't want to talk to police about it. "I don't have anything. Left it all at Sophie's. It'll all stop hurting when I sleep."

He didn't mean his last comment to come out sounding almost pleading, or naive. Any sane person would see it would probably be impossible for him to just peacefully go to sleep right now. He took the icepack off Renee and glanced at her briefly as he stood again. "I-I need to go to the bathroom." He didn't wait for their answer or permission, even. He just walked stiffly across the apartment shut himself inside the bathroom.

Declan watched the bathroom door closed helplessly and turned to Renee, throwing a hand up but not quite finding the right words at first. "I...I..." he stammered at first, and then just made a strange squeaking sound as he struggled not to bolt across the apartment and burst in on his brother in the bathroom to make sure he was okay. Really probably not a good idea after what Liam had just been through. "Why didn't I think of an ice pack? I could have thought of an ice pack. Or the questions. They were good questions, why didn't I ask him? Instead, I just push and push him about going to Cas and talking to the police, then I have to take it all back when he explodes angrily, and I feel like a jerk. Probably because I am a jerk, but that's beside the point ( ... )

Renee sat on the edge of the sofa bed looking helplessly at the bathroom door. "I don't know, Dec! I wish I had the answers. I don't even know what he is doing here on his own with barely anything! It looks like he's squatting. There's no food in the fridge. He told me he had moved in and didn't need help with it. Is the uni bloke still even on the scene? What was Liam doing at a bar on a work night?"

She reached out and took her brother's hand, trying to give it a reassuring squeeze, but it was hard to be reassuring when you were terrified yourself. "You were doing just fine cleaning him up. I just... guess it's reactionary being trained as a nurse. If he's not out of there in five minutes, I'm going in," she resolved. "Where is everyone else? Have you heard from them yet? Do we tell Mum and Dad?"

In the bathroom, Liam went over to the sink, leaning over it when he started to feel like he was going to be sick. A couple of drops of blood dripped into sink, but his stomach didn't want to relent on the distressed nausea just yet. He felt like he was stinging or aching all over, just in different levels in different body parts. He had his mobile phone in his pocket, and he took it out, still trying to awkward hold the ice pack to his nose so the bleeding would ease ( ... )
