So, last Saturday, one of my teachers (Richard Finkelstein; he's this tiny little middle aged guy, who is the stereotype of the absent minded [thought brilliant] professor, and actually reminds me a lot of Professor Flitwick, being on the topic of Harry Potter) took me, Kevin Hasser and Lash Dooley up to Pittsburg to visit his alma mater, Carnegie Mellon. We went to see their production of Side Show. Let me tell you, it was AMAZING! It has never been my desire to go to NY and try to make it as an actor (then what I'm going to do with a degree in musical theater, I don't know....but I don't have to worry about that yet), but after seeing those guys and gals perform, I know that there's no way I could do that. It was incredible. Anyway, this miniature field trip was awesome. Richard paid for everything, the tickets, the food (it was a 4 hour drive each direction, we left at 8 am and didn't get back till after 1 am), and the only thing he asked in exchange was that he show us around his old school. So we walked around a bit, and he told us stories of various things, and then finally we went off campus to go see this one building that is a part of Pittsburg College. It's a skyscraper, of sorts, it being 40 stories tall. That wouldn't be remarkable, except for it's most unusual architecture. The architecture was that of a gothic cathedral, except for the fact that it was a skyscraper. I thought that was so cool, until I saw the inside. As soon as I walked in, I would have sworn that I just set foot into Hogwarts itself. The inside looked just like a castle, down to the stone chairs against the wall, and big Christmas trees in the corners, the high ceiling, everything. There were students sitting at tables all around this big room, and I immediately thought of the Great Hall, except that some of them were using computers. It was absolutely insane. It was probably the coolest building I have ever seen in my life. Just wanted to share that with y'all. :)
