[series]: Chuck
[character]: Devon Christian "Captain Awesome" Woodcomb
[character history / background]:
Wiki knows all [character abilities]: Devon's a cardiovascular surgeon and a fitness nut. So basically, he could jog with you until your heart exploded and then perform the surgery necessary to save your life.
[character personality]: Devon isn't what he seems. He radiates dumb jock, from how he looks (EXTREMELY fit and toned) to the way he talks (using words like "bro" and "dude" and completely abusing the word "awesome) to what he does in his spare time (every extreme sport he possibly can). He's even maintained a strong relationship with his UCLA frat brothers. You would never be able to guess that he's a cardiovascular surgeon unless somebody mentioned it. You'd also think, being a jock and a frat boy to boot, he would be hyper conscious about his masculinity and being perceived as heterosexual, but Devon is extremely comfortable with his body and his sexuality. He has no problems teaching Chuck how to tango (although he did inadvertently teach him the girl's part) or giving tips to Morgan, Chuck's best friend, on how to dress better, and he is perfectly comfortable dispensing sex advice. He is extremely secure in his perception of himself and his relationship with his girlfriend Ellie. Though he knows that Morgan has feelings for Ellie, he isn't threatened by him at all. Even when he finds Morgan and Ellie in bed together after he and she had had a fight, it doesn't even cross his mind that they might have slept together. He trusts Ellie completely, and because of that he's even able to see Morgan as sort of a friend. But he's also a little old fashioned, asking for Chuck's permission to propose to Ellie and using his grandmother's engagement ring to do so. Devon is also a lot wiser than he might seem. He can see how people feel about one another and is frequently a good source of advice or emotional support. This isn't to say he's perfect; he can be a little selfish. What he and Ellie do together is largely determined by what he wants to do; for their anniversary, he wants to get a washer and drier so that they can do more sports together, and even though Ellie tells him she'd prefer a television so they can spend quiet nights at home together, he gets the washer & drier. But he soon repents and makes things up with Ellie. He isn't a man afraid to admit when he's done wrong.
But honestly? Devon is a very simple guy. There are two things he loves in life: extreme sports and his girlfriend Ellie. So long as he can go skydiving and spend time with her (preferably at the same time), he's happy as a puppy with a bone.
