Safe Arrival

I arrived safely in Lawrence last night after driving all day from Arlington. The trip was thankfully uneventful. Great weather, light traffic, entertaining book on CD. I arrived at 9:30 feeling gross and smelly from a day of fast food in the car and with a dog I had found running in the street around the corner from my sister in law's house. The owner was soon reunited with the dog, and I got to have a glass of wine and a shower.

In a somewhat ironic turn of events, one of the dogs who lives here escaped unnoticed while I was unpacking my car this morning. I came back to help them search when they called to find out if I might have taken him with me in the car. I turned the car onto their street scanning the underbrush for signs of Ricky and trying not to make up horrible scenarios in my head about how my negligence might have lead to the death of my fur-nephew when I saw a neighbor come out of her house with Ricky in her arms. I promptly parked my car in the middle of the street and ran to retrieve the dog.
