The News Today
i'm so excited for Kaji! he got the Aria head he's been looking for! it'll be send out tomorrow, priority/first class. that's so cool! we're working out a clothbody for him (we being L-chan and i, as we're the only two home at the moment and Oni has no interest in sewing besides lying on the fabric right when it's needed) and once the head arrives, we'll be working out faceup work and such, although some of that will have to wait until we've got his proper wig and eyes to match off of.
things Kaji will need to look for:
wig to suit character's style
eyelashes to match wig/look desired
pastels/paints to match wig/lashes for faceup
he's already got eyes partially paid for and on hold, so that's good. and i'll help him with the second half of that when it's time, since he only has cc. fabrics for clothes/clothing can wait a little longer, until we've got the clothbody done and until he's secured the body he wants for his Hireki. and when it comes to the clothbody, we'll have to do some finagling. must remember to pick up s-hooks, maybe today?
haven't gotten a THING done on Kaoru. apparently, i can't work on the sewing if angel isn't here. i'll work on the underwear/tail attachment today and get that finalized. thinking i'm going to need to re-make the underwear, but that's okay. it won't take long and i've got another sock. i need to re-align Kaoru's eyes again, as well, he's still a little cross-eyed, but not nearly so bad as he was.
really glad i've got Tamsin, it'll make doing the clothbody a lot easier. we can make sure the neck is going to work right a head of time, and perfect the whole arrangement before Hireki arrives and is in need of a body. think i might try the eye wax on Tam this afternoon once i've gotten some of the work done on Kaoru's tail stuffs, see if that works any better. if it does, i'll leave that as it is and put the Volks stuff back for angel to use. i don't like the idea of using the DOD putty, considering that the whites of Tam's eyes are not as opague as most eyes are.
need to spend time as well on adjusting the clothbody pattern so it's more proportional to Tam's. i hope Kaji likes it. i think it'll be a relief to him, to have it. Hireki won't be able to stand, but he'll at least have a body. we could PROBABLY make him stand if we ran wires through the limbs, but he'll be topheavy, so... probably best to just go for the clothbody and posable fingers. and L will probably make him some clothes. we'll see. i think she said she might... if we're REALLY good, we can get it done today so if the Narsha boy arrives we can call Kaji to come see the newcomer and give him the clothbody at the same time so it's there when Hireki's head arrives.
the brain is all over the place at the moment. i made the mistake of reading some of the rantings over at DoA and it just boggles my mind how selfish people can be. over stupid shit. SIGNATURES. the lack of understanding of the level of work required by mods is astounding. by that i mean, the lack of understanding of how much work a mod really does. i am tempted to change my signature so it's a little smaller, just to be on the safe side, but i have a feeling i'd've had it changed already if i was in violation. running a forum is difficult. it takes a LOT of work and a very intricate balancing act. because, see, mods and admins are people too. except that board members don't always see it that way. mods and admins are Mods and Admins, not fellow enthusiasts and collectors and artists. except that they are. do they really need to get thrashed for simply trying to get people to follow rules they agreed to? the rules are there and available to be read at all times. i dunno...
i don't understand people, i really don't. and now i've been reminded of why i stay away from certain sections of the forum. i just can't deal with the politics, and it makes me confused and sad. i just want to play with dolls. i'm too chibi for all this shit.
and i have a headache, woo. yay for ibuprofen. i should have taken aspirin, but i grabbed the ibuprofen first, oops. ah well.
back to doll-babble... i keep wanting to do another photostory, but i hesitate to do so without angel's permission to play with her dolls. after all, i DID already end up restringing Kyo while she was gone. but i kind of wanted to expand on Tam's angstiness and Sora would be good for that. we'll see.
40 minutes left at work. it's been an odd day and i feel kind of crappy. i think it's the environmental control and the fluorescent lights ganging up on me. picking L up from work, so this will get posted when i get home and can retrieve it from email.
five minutes left. gonna pack up my stuffs so i can jet.
to update... i reseated Tam's eyes with the eye-wax from SOOM. it's sticky, but i like it, it's holding extremely well, considering how large Tam's eyes are, and because it's a neutral/non color (unlike the pale pink of the Volks eye putty) his eyes look brighter somehow. to make up for the fact that i did that, i was determined to get the tail attachment issue squared away for once and for all.
and i did.
of course, what i ended up with looks like translucent bondage gear, but it WORKS and it's not nearly as bulky and jarring as the underwear was. i'm allowing the crazy glue to set on the knots, and tomorrow morning i will finalize the attachment of the tails before thoroughly soaking and conditioning them and setting them out in the sun to dry completely.
so, while not one bit of costuming got done, things ARE progressing on Kaoru. yay!
