um... first off, please don't smite me? i decided to write this post so i wouldn't forget to say something to you. if i do, i'm sorry!! *grovels*
that said... well... i (para-chan) decided to try a head-swap today, to see how a Rasendo Aria head would fit on, say... a Dollkot boy body. it fit okay, but the neck would need a little modding. in trying to get Kyo's head back on afterwards, one of the strings slipped off the s-hook.
oops.
still, not the end of the world. i figure i'll fish for it and pull it back up and all will be fine.
NOPE. because Kyo was strung REALLY BLOODY WEIRD. instead of a single long loop of elastic cord doubled over the s-hook at the neck, he had two separate loops of cord... and they were dying. i found that out after trying to still just draw the loop back up and it snapped a piece of yarn on me (the knot caught in the neck where it narrows) but was still really full of excess give. so... i couldn't just leave him like that, i mean, one of his legs had fallen right off at this point!! poor Kyo! so i restrung his legs, got him all back together and his pants and boots back on, and then his wig was being a stone BITCH.
so i found a rubberband, and now it doesn't DARE move. and it got brushed.
then i went back to drawing comic, because that was what i was SUPPOSED to be doing.
an hour later, i took the remaining elastic and restrung his arms, just because it bugged me that i hadn't done it. THEN i was able to finish the comic and get it posted.
so, um, angel? i know it was in the works anyway, but i also know you'd planned to do it yourself, and i'm sorry! *grovels* but he's been restrung, now... and you'll be working with all new string when you finally get around to giving him his esthetic course.
a few notes, though? you might want to pick up s-hooks. the ones in his wrists and ankles are TINY and worry me a bit. take a look at them when you get a chance and see how you feel about them. also, he poses a bit better now, but sueding will do him a world of good, and you might want to consider the moleskin covered washer-method to keep his s-hook from easily falling into his neck (the hole there is very large). it would mean not having to suede his head at the neck-hole. his knees still do not easily stay straight but i was able to get him to sit fairly stably with them out-stretched in front of him, and i did not try to stand him. he needs wooly socks for under his boots as well, possibly.
it was weird, and i don't know if it will be true for anyone else, but after restringing him, he was suddenly far more Kyo. his head poses better, and his expression seems... different. the wig is still not quite his wig, but the way he sits and all... suddenly i felt like i was really looking at a doll that was Kyo, and not a doll we've all just been calling Kyo.
