Two weeks ago I discovered Parenthood, now in its 3rd season. The show was on TV and I found myself CRYING upon first viewing. I didn’t know about any of the characters, yet I was immediately drawn into their lives. Incredible. It was no surprise to learn that the showrunner and head writer is Jason Katims of Friday Night Lights. Like FNL, Parenthood is real, grounded, full of heart and humanity, ethos and pathos. But overall, I’d say the show’s tone is lighter. It’s filled with laughs and cheer, as well as tears and struggles, just like any family dynamic. A real dramedy. I’m so glad I got on this bandwagon. I really needed a show like this. Highly recommend.
NBC has such quality programming.
