So, Adam directed me to a new webcomic a few weeks ago, and I finally marathon-read it last night into this morning. Be warned - if you decide to pick it up, you pretty much have to read the whole archive. from the beginning, to really get the full value out of it. And tomorrow's comic will be number 1000. And their server's a little slow. Preface done. It's called
Misfile.
What would you do if you woke up one day, and the rest of the world was missing the last two years of your life?
How about if you woke up and you were a different gender than you remember? And the rest of the world only ever knew you as the one you woke up as, with all the differences in your life that would make being the reality?
And what would you do if the being responsible for this mess waltzed into your life and said "Sorry about that. Little mix-up. Working on it! Let me introduce you to the other person whose life I just screwed up, you two should get along just fine!"?
These are the kinds of questions the creator of this webcomic starts with. Highschool (and beyond) romance, how much of your identity is tied up in your gender, how much of who you are is a result of your parents and the choices you make and the friends you have, the supernatural, car racing...and more. There's just...so much to this thing. Maybe it just hits particularly close to home in a lot of ways, but I really, really like it. And it made a lot of good food for thought. So I wanted to share it. There's a lot more I wanted to share about it, and the thoughts its been inspiring and rekindling and all that....but for now, I'm just going to pimp it. It's a...really, really good read.
