Woow. You drew these?! They're fantastic! And yikes! Wow, what did Aella encounter that left scars like that all over her? She is totally lucky to be alive, especially with the abdominal claw marks. And are those giant human teeth marks on her arm? LOL.
I only wish! These are commissioned works by an artist based on Tumblr (in the first two cases) and DevArt in the latter case.
As for Aella's scars ... These characters are from a fantasy setting, so there are all sorts of nasty critters roaming around! The culture she grew up in was pretty crazy and dangerous -- full of the kinds of people who would wrestle crocodiles for fun. The scars on her abdomen came about when a couple of kids got in over their heads while learning how to hunt (it's a tribal society, so no grocery stores), and she had to jump in to rescue them.
Yeah, I suspected it was probably a fantasy setting. Ouch! Does she still live in that society, or does she have a base in a city when she's a treasure hunter?
A little of both, and a little of neither! She's looking for powerful artefacts, and her adventures take her all over the continent that the story is based on. She's seen a lot of different cultures over the years, though her heart is still with her home more than any other.
I actually changed Aella's outfit recently! That's a very old design -- you can see the new one here, along with a slightly better look at Kaelen's outfit.
And here is a quick summary of his personality that I put together for somebody else.
They're both! Mostly treasure hunters, but they are absolutely not above thievery if it gets them what they want or need.
Part of it is down to, hm, how to say it? Taking ownership of cultural stereotypes? Their people are typically seen as thieving brutes without a shred of honesty to them. Instead of getting offended, they make a joke out of it. "Ah, you think us simple, petty thieves? I see! Now, let's show you just how wrong you are." - kind of thing.
The rest of it is down to how much of a hard knock life they've had. They're orphans who've had to fight for every single scrap of what they have, so while they certainly do have some scruples, their morality is screwed and fairly self-centered.

He sounds like a complex character. So he and his sister are both thieves? I thought they were probably Indiana Jones-type honest treasure-hunters.
