If it didn't look like anything was wrong, I could have checked! [We could have - finally - stopped what they did to us before something bad happened. This was something she could have actually helped! Why didn't he tell her?]

[Shikamaru makes his way back to CH1 quietly, trudging up the stairs and into his apartment on the floor on automatic.

He has things to do... he should find his clan's book and look into the medicines listed there for heart and lung conditions - cross-reference with the section of the biology of the Akimichi clan maybe. Copy it down. The doctors at the clinic might be able to make use of that.

He stands in the middle of the living room for a few seconds, trying to remember where he put it.

Absently he turns into his room. He'll need a change of clothes and some other things if he's going to be staying at the clinic for a few days. By his bed, Shikamaru drops to his knees to move the book out from under it. Come to think of it, he should probably pack some things for Chouji, too. He'll appreciate it when he wakes up - because there will be a when.

It's not like he's going to die. His hands continue searching under the bed - he doesn't like things cluttering up his space, so he usually just shoves everything under here. There's an ( ... )

[ Shocking to some, but Shuri Oak is an early riser. He goes to bed at a decent hour and wakes up mostly wired and ready for the day. He sort of misses having a strict training regiment - sort of. The freedom that Luceti allows hasn't gone unappreciated. It's nice to do things on his own time.

So, every morning, he goes on a jog before school. He's following along the river today. ]

[Shikamaru typically isn't an early riser, preferring to sleep in as late as he can, when he can manage it up. The weather is nice today, though, and since the last two days were overcast, he's decided to head out of the apartment a little earlier today. Katara 'got' him a cloud-watching hill for his birthday, and it's a gift he's eager to put to good use.

So he'll be kicking back by the river, watching the clouds and grateful for the peace and quiet that comes from this secluded spot and that's a person he hears coming, isn't it. Siiigh.

He'll try and take his eyes off of the clouds long enough to see who it is.]
