Somehow, driving home from the lake today I attained some new found love for the outdoors and hiking and beautiful scenery. It's not that I didn't like and appreciate it all before but something hit that really made me want to go on all sorts of hikes and just every beautiful piece of the Northwest that I can.
So...I think when I get back from Panama I'll organize and trip. We'll drive up to the lake. We can spend a day swimming and boating and just relaxing. The next day, early in the morning, we'll leave and go to every park and hiking location between there and here. And trust me, there are a lot. Beacon Rock, Lewis and Clark State Park, Multnomah Falls, etc. Plus a bunch of shorter, smaller hikes that go under little water falls and along creeks. If we can't do it just one day then we'll stay another night at the lake and spend two days doing it all. I think it would be awesome. I'm excited. I just hope other people are in to it.
So on top of that. I'd like to go to Smith Rock in central Oregon and hike up that. My aunt says it's a strenuous but beautiful hike and there's a camping ground nearby so it could be a multiple day thing as well. Road trip!
Also, this is a bit of bigger deal, but I want to talk the entire Pacific Crest Trail. It goes all the way from Canada to Mexico. Can you say awesome? Huge hiking and camping trip. Drive up to Canada, (find a place to leave the car, or have someone drop us off) and then walk all the way down through Washington, Oregon and California, camping every night. Sweet.
With all of the adventures I have in store for myself, and with college in the way too, it's going to be a long time before I ever settle down and have a family or something. Maybe I just never will.
