I've just made a collage, it's really fabulous AND surrealist, but only if you think about it too much anyway. I'm pretty excited though because I've always been jealous of collage-making people. And I'm not very good with scissors.
Title: The Big Over Easy
Author: Jasper Fforde
What I Thought: Rather good. Only spotted two typos (I know this is an obnoxious sort of thing for me to keep pointing out, it even annoys ME, but I can't help it). It's the first in a series of "Nursery Crimes," starring DCI Jack Spratt and Sergeant Mary Mary (quite contrary). It's fun to pick out characters that are kind of obscure (like Dr. Caligari being mentioned as having designed a ridiculous castle), although of course liberties have been taken with all of them and some can't be mentioned quite directly (Miss Maple instead of Miss Marple). At the beginning I thought, this has so much potential to make me ROFLMFAO, but (for me at least) it really wasn't that kind of humor. It was pretty dry, but in a good way. Also, as far as mysteries go, it was a fun read with an exciting, slightly jumbled, conclusion. Ummm... I enjoyed it. Don't have as much to say about it as I thought I would.
So with this collage, I was just kind of struck by this wunderschönes inspiration. It's made from an Edward Gorey day calendar, and I've done something like it before - only not really. Totally amateur, not even meant to be a collage so much as conserving space. I'm pretty excited about this, maybe you can't tell.
Also, today was the first day of my three day Segment Two class. It's kind of crazy: this girl from last year's segment one class, with whom I was friends, is in this class too. I didn't recognize her until the teacher/instructor(?) was setting up groups to practice parking tomorrow, table by table. Even though she was sitting two tables in front of mine and on the other half of the room, we ended up in the same group. Isn't that just absurd?
My test is monday... I should have had my license a while ago. Everyone I talk to tells me how they thought FOR SURE they had failed, but passed anyways - clearly I will be the one to fail (unless I put up a big fuss, and then I'll look worse if I DON'T fail... that's the way the world seems to work for me). Mmm I'm worried about the parking tomorrow too, I'll probably go over the time limit like A LOT, or at least be told something like "You should come back and practice some more later. You haven't set up a test time yet right?"
Cassie & Miranda were over Tuesday night for Silent Hill.
I went shopping on Wednesday and got NOTHING done.
My manager brought her short-tailed opossum in to work, he's a real cutie (and small).
