"Texas wants you anyway"? Try "You want Texas, don't you buddy?!?!"

What a surreal weekend. In a period of 48 hours, Texas John and Jerry the 3rd, Jr played 4 shows in three different states to audiences as large as 1000+ and as small as 20. On the way to the first gig, I got a phone call from a journalist on the Cape (For those of you, not from around here, Cape Cod, a snooty random little addition to MA). She wants to interview me about the band and run a spot about our upcoming Sunday concert (cape cod) in the newspaper she works for. It seems things are turning celebrity (in a small Christian rock way) for Texas John. We really need to get in the studio and put together a demo.

What I really need is to simply survive this next weekend, which is number 9 in a row. It starts on Friday night with Eastern Nazarene College's Battle of the Bands. a) I can't believe that I'm playing in a battle of the bands. b) If by come chance we don't win, I'm gonna be super-not-cool with that gig. If we do win, at least I'll get some cash. But I'm not bustin' down any doors to get ENC dormroom exposure for the band. Yee-haw!

Then we do our [apparently] uberimportant concert on the cape. I don't know who or how many will show but it proves to be interesting. I just hope my car gets us there. My mechanic is apparently an electrical genius and basically bypassed one of the computers in my car, adding random wires and fuses to the whole setup. I've decided that I will be willing to dump any amount of money into it, because a 1983 Volvo station wagon with a Jim White bumper sticker on it is just too bitchin'. Eventually I want to change the engine and give it like a V8 with a manual transmission. Then we'd be talking.

Now as I wrap up, I will give you all 3 guesses as to the concert that I got to see last night. If you didn't guess the allusion earlier (like from the get-go), you don't deserve to know which musical/lyrical genius I witnessed.

Hasta.
