1-800-PURPLE-YES

Apparently, the price of purple has gone down this year to only $9.95! I tell you, man: those folks over at The Purple Company really have it going on. Or so they say...

...to my voicemail. Wait a minute... Could that have been a, no it couldn't have been, a prank call? Shoot, man. Here I was, all ready to plunk down my $9.95 to get me some good purple and it was a dupe. Look out folks, prankers are on the prowl. As it turns out, I just discovered through the fine folks at Google that "The Purple Company" is actually a recording studio in the Netherlands. They don't really offer any services for $9.95 (or in any amount in US dollars for that matter), but it is kind of an amusing thought to imagine some swedish recording engineers making prank phone calls to guys with famous musicians' names in the United States. I can see it now, "Oh, dat vas a goot vun, yah? I bet his leiderhosen are all up in bundles, yah?" (Actually as I'm typing this, I'm really picturing the two stoner aliens from Aqua Teen making those calls HAHAHA!)

Screw it, I'm calling the Netherlands to offer them a heck of a deal on Dremker.

In other news, there's a new girl at McCormick's who just moved here from (you can see it coming from a mile away, can't you?) FORT WORTH, TEXAS! It's nice to have someone who doesn't look at me sideways when I talk about places I hang out with names like "Rusty's" (she actually worked there!). Really, it's just good to have a twang ally in the restaurant again. I don't know if you can imagine but some of the other waiters actually poke fun at me when I slip into my Southern drawl. Can y'all believe it?

Outstanding retreat last weekend. God is so incredible. And I feel like I'm starting to get more on the same page with God about some of the spiritual-behind-the-scenes stuff. He told me in the middle of our Saturday night service that my plan and my program for that service were gonna get a whole lot less important real soon and that I should maybe take myself away from the production table. So I went to our prayer corner for the first time that weekend to try and listen for more. It didn't take long for that to be interrupted by Rob sending me to do music. And it sure didn't take long after that for Satan to show up in full force, which upon reflection of the rest of the night is pretty stinkin' weak compared to God's awesome power and love.

If you were there, you saw it. And since many of y'all were there, I won't get into the gritty. But here's the basics. Satan tried to railroad the night with a lot of uncharted ugliness. But he didn't count on the children of God being anywhere near as strong as they proved. With a sure voice, students were standing up and telling of God's love and transforming power and you could feel the victory! Sure, there was a lot of pain involved in the mix. The devil's really good at pain. But man, those youth made a statement that blasted like a trumpet that God is a God of love and healing and transformation.

In reflection today, some scriptures came brilliantly alive for me:

"Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you. Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith, for you know that your brothers and sisters in all the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore, support, strengthen and establish you. To Him be the power forever and ever. Amen" 1 Peter 5:7-11

And if you were there on Saturday, today's Gospel reading should get a big AMEN from you:

"What has come into being in Him, [Christ] was life, and the life was the light of all people. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness DOES NOT OVERCOME IT!" - John 1:3-5

Alleluia, Alleluia, Alleluia!!! (get 'em in now kiddos. You've got one more day.)

Hasta
