Soooo much guitar...

Welcome to the closing out of the All-John-All-The-Time weekend. I scheduled yesterday and today off from work for a conference that I skipped out on to be at home taking care of my health and music. Lame weather and threatening health kept me in my Foxboro abode for a long stinkin' time and my guitar has gotten a whole lotta lovin' as a result. The last time I played this much guitar was in dreaded Commerce, TX; banished from the music program, fearful of the Exodicious cricket plague, mentally/emotionally escaping from my "Power-Church" roommate and his glo-in-the-dark "superdope" crucifix and all out determined to get something good out of the incarceration.

Two immediate musical goals:
1) Absolute live sonic bliss at our Sr. High retreat in February. Pete will be back and ready to rock; a long-anticipated reunion.
2) Solid performance in the studio when Pete and I hit it hard for a week in March. We're gonna utilize all the gear we can muster (including the studio he's been at for the past 3 months on the Vineyard) and crank like hell on a record that will have some value to the folks in my demographic. What's my demographic again?

The Tufts thing has been a good way for me to start getting a feel for college ministry before I embark on this big Trinity project (set to launch in late February). They really are different than the jr high and high schoolers I've been working with all along. I'm interested to see who comes to Trinity.

So that's been the weekend. Enough guitar to make my left hand not want to type this, occasionally broken up by some tv-induced napping (another sign that I am not-so-slowly becoming my father; sigh - oops there we go again). Rock hard tomorrow.

Hasta
