Seventeen Rose Petals Fall - [Voice]

[Fabulous, just fabulous. Dist had been wanting to practice the piano, especially one particular song, but the place where he practiced would be closed down. Truly wonderful, oh yes. But Dist has never been one to give up easily, and though he'd have loved to create his own piano to have in his home, that just wasn't possible. He didn't have that ( Read more... )

You can't have Brook's.

[SO THERE.]

[Oh, there are so many things Dist could say to you, you pest. But he'll reply with only this--]

I don't believe that's your decision to make, child.

Of course it is. I just made it.

What I meant, you witless little urchin, is that it is up to this Brook person to grant me permission to use his piano or not. The right does not fall on you.

[Stupid kid. B| Why is he even talking to you? Go away.]

Yes, it does. He went home and left me his piano.

[Lifting a brow in your direction now, Katie.] And can you even play it?

Does it matter if I can? I thought I might make an elephant out of it. It's only fair.

[What even--] ...Do enjoy yourself, then. I'm sure the previous owner of that piano would be oh-so pleased to see his beautiful instrument reduced to such.

[O mai, temper flare.] Better that than you treat it badly.

[Oh, that actually gets a very dry laugh out of the scientist.] And why, pray tell, would I even think to abuse an instrument I hope to learn from? Quite counterproductive to my goal of creating music, isn't it? ...Though I shouldn't expect logic to come from a stupid and insolent little brat.

You couldn't possibly play it well. The keys would shrivel away from your fingertips rather than let someone like you touch it.

Why you insolent little--! I'll have you know I'm quite skilled at playing the piano and not a single key has shriveled under my fingertips. [He sneers when saying that last bit, then just glares into his journal.]

I intended to ask a question and receive answers, not to be insulted by a brainless little whelp like yourself! If you have a piano, excellent, do what you want with it and leave me be! I've no time for toying around with children!

You insulted me first. Didn't your mother raise you to be polite?

[And that is the breaking point. Dist doesn't say anything, just shuts his journal tightly and with a very loud snap. Mother? What mother? He was an orphan, and had no idea who his parents were, let alone if they were dead or alive. And, to be frank, Dist no longer cared, even though being reminded that he had nothing, began with nothing, stung quite a bit.

It doesn't matter. He doesn't care anymore. It was in the past. He had the Professor, and Nephry, and Jade. That's all that mattered.]
