...a follow up to my unique and wholly unforgettable experience that was getting my IUD.
I am still in awe that for $35 I have 10 years of effective birth control which is proving itself to be effective because it's that time of the month and I am sooo on my period. I am so ass deep in alligators (or menstrual fluid and uterine lining) that I think I am my period.
I love my IUD. I really do.
I thought I was prepared for the "heavier periods" my obgyn told me were common after getting one. I don't have heavier periods though. Oh no, having an IUD has spawned what I can only call the "backwards period."
My period schedule before my IUD. 4 days.
Day 1 - Medium
Day 2 - Heavy
Day 3 - Light
Day 4 - Light
Day 5 (I never really counted this day because we're talking insignificant spotting here at the most)
Now all of my light days, like all FOUR of them, are at the beginning. It is nerve wracking. I always carry proper provisions, but still I'm sitting around wondering if this is indeed a period or irregular spotting, did I hurt myself up there? Ugh.
Then for the next two days it gradually, ever so slightly gets heavier and the last days are without fail the heaviest. But then, just when I think I'm destined to bleed forever, I wake up and the red curse has fled by the cover of darkness. On a black steed.
It's such a pain in the ass. The cramps are another story though. There's the shit on the crapcake. With every period I have, my body get's the bright idea to try to attack the IUD. I figured it out, my body is still pretty pissed off at this tiny thing. Like, really fucking angry.
But, the cramps I knew about. No one ever told me my cycles would be turned upside down. This is just ridiculous.
And there you have it.
The more you know.
